Job Description
EliteCare Medical Staffing is seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our MedSurg unit in Rugby, ND. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a focus on delivering high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide nursing care to a diverse patient population including those with common diagnoses such as pneumonia, urinary tract infections (UTIs), post-operative recovery, pain management, aspiration, fractures, dementia, and fall risks.
  • Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 or less during day and night shifts, with occasional ratios of 1:8 based on patient acuity and staffing levels.
  • Float to the Emergency Department (ED) as needed, supporting patient care during high-demand periods.
  • Administer medications and perform nursing procedures as per established protocols; titration of drips may be required occasionally.
  • Collaborate with Charge Nurses and House Supervisors to ensure optimal patient care and unit operations.
  • Work alongside nurse aides/patient care technicians to support daily patient activities including vital signs monitoring, ambulation, and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Participate in ongoing education and training regarding equipment and procedures, including the use of CPAP and BiPAP devices.
  • Ensure proper documentation of patient care using the EPIC system; familiarity with this system is preferred.
  • Adhere to facility policies regarding holiday and weekend scheduling, participating in every third weekend rotation.

Qualifications:
  • Current RN licensure in the state of North Dakota.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and NIH Stroke Education certifications preferred.
  • Previous experience in a MedSurg setting with IV skills is required; knowledge of titrating drips is beneficial but not frequently practiced.
  • Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips; no monitor techs are available on the unit.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Additional Information:
  • Patient Care:& Each RN is responsible for reading and interpreting their own cardiac strips without monitor tech support.
  • Support Staff:& One nurse aide/patient care tech is available per 8-hour shift to assist with basic patient care tasks.
  • Equipment:& No respiratory therapists on site; RNs are responsible for administering breathing treatments and chest physiotherapy as needed.
  • Dress Code:& Scrubs of any color or pattern are acceptable; scrubs are not provided by the facility.
