Base Pay: $33.30 - $49.90 / hourJOB SUMMARY

The primary function of the RN Coordinator in the call center is to perform independent triage and documentation regarding actions taken. In addition, the Call Center Registered Nurse will relay test results as indicated to patient and refill non-controlled medications per protocol. RNs are expected to demonstrate critical thinking skills, leadership, and appropriate role modeling in addition to providing patient education.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

RN-Specific Tasks and Duties

  • Performs independent telephone or face to face triage using written triage protocols.
  • Performs medication refills according to nurse refill protocol.
  • Utilizes the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation) in patient care and daily activities; documents all actions, as appropriate, in EHR.
  • Functions under standardized procedures or patient care protocols to provide independent care.
  • Participates in the quality improvement process as requested or assigned.
  • Provides direct patient education.
  • Accepts and correctly transcribes verbal or telephone orders from clinicians.
  • Calls in new prescriptions as well as prescriptions with changes in dose, duration, method of administration or frequency.
  • Report’s child, elder or general abuse according to California law.

Assisting the Clinician and Daily Activities

  • Intermittently throughout the day checks clinician inboxes/PAQs and addresses issues appropriately.
  • First line for resolving patient issues/complaints.
  • Nurse advice – telephone and face to face.
  • Obtains previous records, collects patient history, prepares new patients, etc.
  • Resource for VC, patients, MA, LVN, etc.
  • Follows SCHC standards for Standard Precautions when working with potentially infectious materials (blood or body fluids).
  • Schedule patients appropriately when needed.
  • Alerts Clinical Director or designated person of needed supplies/equipment.
  • Reports any safety hazards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of nursing process, scope of practice and standards of care.
  • Ability to pass a written medication quiz.
  • Basic computer proficiency in Windows environment.
  • Typing 35 WPM or greater.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Completion of an accredited RN program.
  • Current California RN license upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification upon hire and maintain current.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of one year’s experience in acute care nursing.
  • Previous experience working in an outpatient clinic or doctor’s office.
  • Typing 45 WPM or greater.
