Job Description
This is a full-time On-site position working during the week.
General Objectives:
- Performs data entry related to charging, logging and quantifying Cardiology Service Line activities.
- Enhances the communication between Cardiology, hospital departments and physician office staff.
- Facilitates clinical performance and outcomes using clinical expertise, abstracts pertinent patient information from medical records and enters the information into the appropriate database.
- Participates in the discharge process to ensure quality metrics are met.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Identifies patients for inclusion in the clinical registries through the application of strict inclusion/exclusion criteria protocols
2. Communicates with surgical schedulers to ensure patient care captured and entered in appropriate database within timely manner meeting designated data deadlines.
3. Establishes and validates data for the program using the applicable criteria and definitions established by the registry.
4. Analyzes data and reports to identify outliers or performance metrics not met to identify opportunities for improvement.
5. Assists with the development, piloting, use, and validation of data collection methodologies. Serves as a resource for developing indicators for studies and projects.
6. Assists with obtaining Informed Consent for Research following Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards. Actively maintains GPC trainings.
7. Abstracts required data elements from patient medical records and insures accurate timely transfer of information to the appropriate database.
8. Assists in the maintenance of each database. Maintains department records, reports and files as required. Prepares reports as requested.
9. Participates in educational seminars and in-service meetings as available. Actively participates on committees as requested. Assist in training/orienting department personnel.
10. Works collaboratively with colleagues and business customers regarding morbidity & mortality audits.
11. Tracks research variances as requested.
12. Prepares various organizational charts.
13. Prepares statistics reports from Meditech to support the Cathlab/CVOR director and manager.
14. Other duties as required for the efficient operation of the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited Registered/Professional Nursing program
- CO RN License (DORA) or ability to obtain.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Previous NCDR/ACC/STS data abstraction
SALARY RANGE
- $33.99 - $49.98/hour (BSN)
- Entry salary dependent upon education, skill-set, and experience.
- Valley View recognizes a 4% pay difference for RN-ADN, BSN, MSN
