Job Title: Clinic Nurse - LPN/RN


Employment Classification: Non-exempt, Hourly

Status: Full-Time


Travel Required: Yes-Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday in Warrensburg, MO 8am-5:30p/Tuesdays at the Sedalia satellite office 8am-5:30pm (mileage paid for travel to the Sedalia office) Fridays Off


Position Summary

The Clinic Nurse is responsible for demonstrating knowledge and application of job duties within scope of practice and functions under the direction of their manager(s) and/or Director(s); respectfully interacts with all levels of staff; provides direct nursing care during assigned duty hours; participates in department activities; promotes independence; adherence to the attendance policy; encourages socialization; advocates for the quality of life of our patients while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws, regulatory and organizational standards; supports the company’s core values.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees appointment schedules and ensures preferences are given in urgent and emergency situations.
  • Maintains orderly and efficient flow of patients.
  • Prepares testing trays and materials for intradermal, penicillin, and anesthetic testing.
  • Performs skin prick testing, multi-testing, intradermal testing and pulmonary function testing.
  • Mixes down patient antigens according to clinic protocol.
  • Administers medications and nebulizer treatments per physician order and/or standing orders.
  • Administers immunotherapy according to clinic protocols under supervision of physician.
  • Assists in reordering antigen from lab for in-house clinic patients and patients receiving injections at home.
  • Assists in preparing vials to be mailed to patients receiving injections at home.
  • Orders supplies or assists in maintaining inventory of stock for preparing orders.
  • Reviews dictation and places in charts.
  • Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls. Gives reports to patients as directed by physician.
  • Documents pertinent information in medical records to ensure accurate continuity of care.
  • Assists in educating patients in their testing, medications, immunotherapy, prevention practices, asthma, etc.
  • Arranges for patient x-ray, labs and referrals outside clinic.
  • Screens pharmaceutical reps and learns from them the protocol for dispensing of their
  • represented drugs.
  • Completes medical / physical history forms and other related and requested information by
  • insurance companies and returns to doctor for signature and/or approval
  • Additional Responsibilities
  • Prepare allergy vials with extracts using proper guidelines
  • Be familiar with extracts used in VPA and those for testing
  • Make vials for reorders (in-house and mail outs)
  • Make vials for New Start patients
  • Check phone messages, web orders, and fridge temps
  • Assist in shipping vials by UPS or courier
  • Assist with supplies as needed
  • Check benefits and balances of patient accounts for reorders and new starts
  • Answer phone calls from patients, PCP offices, and coworkers regarding reactions, dilutions, building schedules, extracts, issues, and concerns
  • Maintain and follow HIPAA policies and procedures
  • Other relevant duties as assigned by Director
Requirements:

Abilities, Knowledge and Skills

Effective communication skills to include:

  1. Ability to fluently speak and read English
  2. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, handbooks, policies, patient care plans and procedure manuals
  3. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written, with all levels of staff and patients

Education, Prior Work Experience, Special Skill And Knowledge Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Diploma in Nursing- LPN/RN with Missouri license
  • Previous medical office experience, preferred
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to examine documents and electronic information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Must have and maintain current CPR certification.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written, with all levels of staff, and patients
  • Acceptable results on Office of Inspector General, State Medicaid Exclusions, Abuse Registry Checks, Background Screenings, Drug Screen, and Sanction Checks
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to work with patients directly and pleasantly
  • Ability to work independently
  • Active CPR certification required
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Ability to travel to satellite offices as needed
