Scope
• Provide assessment/data gathering of resident’s condition and is accountable for the completion of resident charting per applicable state and federal guidelines.
• Provide supervision and direction to the Charge Nurse, Clinical Assistant/Registered and TMA’s. Actively fosters and supports an environment which promotes high quality resident care.
• Has frequent contact with various members of all Knute Nelson Departments, residents and family, and various members of the medical community involved in the resident’s care.

Education and Experience Required
• Must be a graduate of a school of clinical and be licensed with Minnesota Board of Nurses. This includes having an original and current Minnesota License Number.
• Maintain his or her own competency with continuing education.
• Must have strong assessment skills, good organizational skills, and strong problem-solving skills.
• Able to physically perform the duties required by the position.
• Required to have the ability to read, write and speak English well enough to communicate with staff, residents and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
• Complete resident/patient admissions and discharges. Prepare and complete all necessary paperwork and complete all clinical assessments related to resident care.
• Responsible for monitoring and observing all residents. Lead or assist with resident care conference and coordination of resident care. Provide proper documentation and follow-up including but not limited to diagnosis, lab, psychotropic monitoring compliance, MED, Informed Choice, TD, etc. Responsible for developing and updating resident care plans.
• Responsible for the accuracy of all issues relating to pharmacy on their assigned units. This may include, but not limited to, pharmaceutical supplies, labeling and identification, medicine passes, proper storage, and destruction.
• Provide supervision, instruction, and work direction to Charge Nurses, Clinical Assistants and TMAs in the proper care and treatment of the resident. Serve as mentor to assigned clinical staff including monitoring employee performance, completing, and conducting performance evaluations and conference actions.
• Required to be available for call when scheduled to be on call (RN) on weekends and holidays.
• Conduct, attend, and serve on internal or external committees and meetings as assigned.
• Practice’s infection control procedures. Promotes safe work practices, methods, and controls. Coordinate or conduct lab draws of residents and administer IV Meds when needed.
