MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current NYS Registration for RN (copy required upon hire)
  • Valid New York State Drivers License (copy required upon hire)
  • Yearly Physical (required within 1 month of hire)
  • Ability to work with a diverse population presenting a variety of cultural, socioeconomic, developmental, and sexual identities. Must have the ability and willingness to establish and foster healthy and supportive relationships that acknowledge individual identities and encourage personal growth.

PREFERRED

  • Experience with adolescents

  3. Multi-State Sex Offender Registry (SOR)

  6. NYS OMIG Medicaid Exclusion List
  7. Out-of-state child abuse register inquiry of any state in which the person resided within the last five years (if applicable)
  8. NYS License Event Notification Service (LENS)
  9. Office of Inspector General (OIG)
  10. NYS Professions – Professional License Check
  11. Must successfully complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)

HOURS

  • 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday thru Friday
  • Must be flexible to meet the needs of the program.

SALARY

$80,000 - $90,000 annually

POSITION OBJECTIVES

  1. To provide high-quality nursing care and health education to the residents of The William George Agency.
  2. To provide continuing education to staff concerning OSHA regulations.
  3. To oversee medication administration in the cottages.
  4. To develop health/safety-related issues for the residents and staff.
  5. To participate in the development of health care policy for The William George Agency.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintain documentation in a Electronic Health Record for each child at The William George Agency in accordance

with established practices and NYS OCFS regulations.

  1. Conduct appropriate medical and health examinations as directed by the Medical Director or stipulated by NYS OCFS regulations.
  2. Provide appropriate nursing and medical care to children who have health-related complaints and

make appropriate referrals as necessary.

  1. Ensure that the Cottage Behavioral Health Clinician and Manager are informed of the health needs of each child in their care. Attend cottage meetings to discuss health care issues as needed or at the request of the Cottage Behavioral Health Clinician or Manager.
  2. Directly supervise and maintain medication logs prescribed by the physician and psychiatrists in accordance with established medical practices and NYS OCFS regulations.
  3. Assist in staff physical exams to include BP, Height, Weight, and BMI and maintain written records for medical clinic/personnel.
  4. Perform tasks as assigned by the supervising nurse to ensure optimum functioning of the clinic.

These tasks include, but are not limited to:

  1. Maintaining inventory of medical supplies/equipment
  2. Ordering supplies/equipment as needed
  3. Routine housekeeping duties to maintain the building
  4. Scheduling of residents/staff to see physicians as needed
  5. Provide health-related counseling and education to residents
  1. Monitor children at meals and in school for medication administration and health assessments.
  2. Draw blood work as ordered by the physician using standard medical practices and OSHA guidelines.
  3. Procure, maintain and update immunization records for each resident at The William George Agency.
  4. Following standard orders, assess and treat medical conditions as needed
  5. Staff nurses will be available to AOD via agency-issued cell phone 24 hours/day. Cell phone calls will rotate among staff. Written records will be kept of calls and transcribed to medical charts in a timely fashion.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned by the Medical Director, Nursing Supervisor, or Assistant Nursing Supervisor.
  7. Responsible for adhering to and performing all duties in accordance with every safety standard, practice, and policy of The William George Agency. This includes, but is not limited to, a review of The William George Agency's Safety Policy and attending all required safety-related training.
  8. Adhere to all rules, regulations, policies, and philosophy of The William George Agency and the New York

Office of Children and Family Services.

POSITION LEVEL: Responsible to the Medical Director and Supervising Nurse.

The William George Agency for Children’s Services is located on a 650-acre campus nine miles northeast of Ithaca, in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State. It is a private not-for-profit residential treatment center licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) that serves both male and female youth between the ages of 12 and 21, and their families, who present with significant mental health issues, behavioral difficulties, and substance abuse issues.
