Who we are looking for As the Welding Engineer you will support the development and maturity of Re:Build Optimation’s welding center of excellence, supporting project-specific welding for Re:Build Optimation as well as the broader network of Re:Build Manufacturing member companies. What you'll get to do Develop, optimize, qualify, and manage weld processes and parameters for multiple welding processes including but not limited to electron beam welding, laser beam welding, gas tungsten arc welding, orbital tube welding, and gas metal arc welding. Act as a subject matter expert in support of engineering & trades teams on project-specific welding requirements, providing direction to engineers and welders on applicable code requirements, drawing interpretation, appropriate techniques, and destructive & non-destructive testing. Work closely with internal & external quality and testing stakeholders to determine quality and testing requirements and related processes for welded assemblies. Identify make vs. buy opportunities for welding quality & testing processes and manage key quality and testing vendor relationships. What you bring to the team Fluent knowledge of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Codes BPVC (e.g., Sec VIII Divs. 1 & 2) Hands-on and design experience with carbon steels, stainless steels, aluminum, titanium, and/or high-nickel alloys Fundamental understanding of welding processes including, but not limited to, electron beam, laser beam, gas tungsten arc, and gas metal arc Tooling design experience for welded assemblies to reduce part distortion and improve part consistency Bachelor’s Degree in Welding or Mechanical Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience with design, fabrication, manufacturing, and/or testing of welded assemblies. Experience with ASME BPVC design tools like DesignCalcs Experience working with ASME Authorized Inspection Authorities (AIAs) AWS Certified Welding Engineer (CWE) and/or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) NDT Level 1 or Level 2 certified Ability to perform engineering calculations as needed. Ability to solve practical & technical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and drawings. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, supervisors and employees. Must be able to read, speak, write and understand English. Note Physical Demands and Work Environment The employee frequently is required to walk, stand and sit. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily working in either an office environment or in a manufacturing environment. Some exposure to moving mechanical parts and/or fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Compensation Range Annual salary for this position is expected to be between $78,597.00 to $117,896.00, plus participation in our annual bonus plan and long term incentive plan. The actual pay may be higher depending on your qualifications and experience. Location Requirements: Position is based in our Rush, NY office and our teams work 100% onsite.
