As a Certified Welding Inspector at D7 Pneumatics, you will be a key member of our fabrication team, ensuring that all welding processes in our shop meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. You will be responsible for inspecting all welded joints, performing non-destructive testing (NDT), reviewing welding procedures, and ensuring that our products adhere to both customer specifications and regulatory standards. Your expertise will help maintain our reputation for high-quality manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections of welded assemblies to ensure conformance with project specifications and applicable codes (AWS, ASME, etc.).
  • Review and approve welding procedures and ensure that they are followed according to specification during fabrication.
  • Conduct or oversee non-destructive testing methods such as ultrasonic, magnetic particle, and dye penetrant tests to evaluate the integrity of welds up to D1.1 code standards
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and corrective action documentation to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Ensure that all welding activities align with D7 Pneumatics’ quality assurance programs, policies, and customer specifications.
  • Work closely with staff, and supervisors to troubleshoot welding-related issues, recommend improvements, and optimize welding processes.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant welding codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Identify areas for process improvements, equipment upgrades, and provide recommendations to enhance overall welding quality and shop efficiency.
  • Provide guidance and training to shop personnel regarding welding techniques, safety practices, and quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification from the American Welding Society (AWS) or an equivalent recognized certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in welding inspection within a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick, etc.) and welding codes, such as AWS D1.1 and ASME.
  • Proficiency in non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques such as ultrasonic, magnetic particle, and dye penetrant inspection.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, welding symbols, and specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspections and documentation.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and the ability to enforce safety standards in a fabrication environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with team members, engineers, and management.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven fabrication shop.
