Title: Welding Engineer Intern - Welding and Automated System Design
Location: Meadville, PA
Job Description:
With 5 locations spread out across the Midwest, Phoenix is the largest pulsed YAG laser house in North America! We use laser welding to repair, modify and assemble various components, from injection molding dies to aerospace components. By using the latest technology in welding and additive manufacturing, we can achieve surface enhancements that are impossible with conventional welding. We are now seeking interns for upcoming projects, where you will be trained while receiving great pay and generous benefits in addition to solidifying domain knowledge by practical training.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Assist in design, set up, and execute laser processing application trials resulting in laser parameters specific to the customer’s application.
- Evaluate technical requirements, collect and maintain experimental data, write summary of experiment and reporting of data for customer presentation.
- Integrate with mechanical and control design groups to influence machine concept and design.
- Support sales as necessary in a technical and/or presentation role.
- Support and neatly maintain lab areas and equipment.
- Be able to work independently and unsupervised while prioritizing tasks.
Desired Skills:
- Hands on experience in welding and fabrication applications: cutting, welding/brazing, drilling, marking/engraving, welding of dissimilar metals a plus.
- CNC/robotic programming.
- Proficient in welding safety, weld filler selection, weld processing parameters, fixturing.
- Familiarity and experience with metallurgy, weld joint analysis, backing gas applications.
- Strong cognitive and clear communication skills which emphasize attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to lead projects to completion with minimal oversight, while demonstrating significant problem-solving ability.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Associates/Bachelors/Masters degree in engineering, material science, or physics.
