Position Summary

This position is responsible for taking orders and payments from guests upon entering the restaurant. Welcome guests, seat them at tables and help ensure quality of service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include, but are not limited to:

  • Assigned a register at the beginning of shift and given a drawer containing a “bank” of money.
  • Receive payment by cash, credit cards, coupons, vouchers, or automatic debit.
  • Issue a receipt to the guest and return the appropriate change.
  • Monitor checkout station to ensure they have adequate cash available.
  • Ensure there are adequate supplies such as register paper, pens, etc. available at the register at all times.
  • Post charges against guests’ hotel room when necessary.
  • Maintain clean and orderly checkout area.
  • Greet and seat guests at tables.
  • Inform guests of any specials of the day.
  • Inspect dining and serving areas to ensure cleanliness and proper setup.
  • Maintain contact with kitchen staff, management, serving staff and guests to ensure that dining details are handled properly.
  • All other duties as assign.

Education / Training / Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent and/or experience.
  • Money handling experience preferred.
