Job Summary:

Cage cashiers handle guest transfers for currency, gaming chips, and paperwork necessary to support casino play. All duties are to be performed within the guidelines of the Saracen Casino Resort’s policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards and objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out a wide range of financial transactions and handle any paperwork that may be required.
  • Cash personal checks, Travelers Checks and Cash Advances on credit cards according to Cage policies and procedures.
  • Sell gaming chip or tickets to patrons or to other internal employees
  • Exchange chips and tickets for cash.
  • Able to use currency counters, adding machines, and computers to calculate and record transactions.
  • Able to balance cash drawer transactions, beginning and ending with the same amount of monies.
  • Must follow Cage policies and procedures related to currency handling, check cashing, chip handling and guest service.
  • Responsible for multiple transaction recording and SAR activity.
  • Knowledge of local jurisdiction and gaming laws (Federal and Tribal) as well as internal controls, policies and procedures.
  • Brings guest disputes and unusual guest activities to the attention of the Cage Shift Supervisor.
  • Maintains a consistent and regular attendance record.
  • Promotes positive guest relations through prompt, courteous, and efficient guest service.
  • Maintains a professional departmental, company and community reputation.
  • Keeps work area clean and organized.
  • Responsible for all other duties as assigned.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to all patrons and communicates in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner at all times. Maintains a professional work environment with supervisors and staff.
  • Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
  • Attends all necessary training meetings.
  • Assist in other projects, as directed.
  • Duties, responsibilities, requirements and expectations pertaining to this job are subject to change as needed. Hours are determined by 24-hour schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, a Team Member must be able to perform each essential duty to standard.   • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age or older upon employment
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide and to perform these operations using units of US currency.
  • Excellent guest relation skills and an ability to be attentive and anticipate all guest needs.
  • Must be able to obtain valid gaming license.
  • Work nights, weekends and holidays as required.
  • Employment is contingent upon a favorable outcome of a background investigation and drug screening.
  • Must present a well-groomed and professional appearance.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers and employees.
  • Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud.

  • Must be able to work in an environment where smoking is permitted.
  • Must be able to stand, walk and move through all areas of the Casino for a lengthy period of time – up to eight (8) hours.
  • Must be able to carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to see clearly up close, to see clearly at a distance, distinguish color, see with peripheral vision and rapidly focus from near to far and back.
  • Must be able to work in a fast pace, busy and noisy environment.
  • Must have sufficient physical and manual dexterity to handle and count money efficiently.
  • May be exposed to cigarette and cigar smoke.
  • Must have the ability to work indoors as well as in extreme temperatures.
  • Must maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and effectively deal with customers, management, employees, and members of the business community in all situations.
