Job Description
We are seeking a Seasonal R&D Assistant to join our team. The role involves monitoring seed workflows and automation to prepare for the field trial planting season. You will be responsible for preparing soybean, corn, and wheat samples harvested across North America for compositional analysis. This position requires setting up and making adjustments to regulate factors such as temperatures, pressure, flow, and reactions of materials, as well as supporting the automation manufacturing process by monitoring and managing inventory. You will also perform safety inspections, submit hazard recognitions, and offer safety suggestions. Additionally, you will work with engineering and operations teams to ensure continuous improvement, assist in other projects, operate and control units manually on control systems, and run and shut down production facilities and product changeover activities. The role includes decontamination of equipment, routine analytics, taking samples, documenting and communicating work results, and supporting troubleshooting of process deviations in cooperation with the shift supervisor.

- Prepare soybean, corn, and wheat samples harvested across North America for compositional analysis.
- Set up and make adjustments to regulate factors such as temperatures, pressure, flow, and reactions of materials.
- Support the automation manufacturing process by monitoring and managing inventory.
- Perform safety inspections and submit hazard recognitions and safety suggestions.
- Work with engineering and operations teams to ensure continuous improvement.
- Assist in other projects and perform other duties as assigned.
- Operate and control units manually on control systems.
- Run and shut down production facilities and perform product changeover activities.
- Decontaminate equipment.
- Conduct routine analytics and take samples.
- Document and communicate work results.
- Support troubleshooting of process deviations in cooperation with the shift supervisor.
- Experience in Biology, Agriculture, R&D, and Automation.
- Associate's degree in agriculture, supply chain production is preferred.
- Agriculture research experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Software and internal software programs.
The work environment is a very automated facility with three shifts available: 1st shift: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM; 2nd shift: 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM; 3rd shift: 11:30 PM - 8:00 AM. This position is part of a seasonal ramp-up from January to the end of May or early June. Employees will receive one paid holiday and PTO.
