Job Description
The Fuels Crew Crewmember is a seasonal position responsible for the implementation of all aspects of operations for the Fuels Crew. This is an entry-level wildland firefighter position that prepares you for a career in wildfire. The Fuels Crew Crewmember reports directly to the Fuels Crew Foreman on day-to-day operations. The 2025 season will begin April 28th and run through October 31st.
Under the direction of the Fuels Foreman, the Fuels Crew Crewmember will:
- Implement day-to-day operations as directed by the Fuels Crew Foreman.
- Participate as a member of a crew on a variety of wildfire mitigation projects including thinning and chipping.
- Provide a high level of performance during implementation of operations.
- Ensure safe operations in the workplace, on IA (Initial Attack), and on assignment.
- Participate in daily briefings and in wildfire suppression operations.
- Maintain compliance of all Wildland Division SOPs.
- Ensure assigned Fuels Programs and collateral duties are being implemented as issued by the Fuels Crew Lead & Foreman.
- Participate in fireline operations.
- Maintain a high level of conduct and compliance with Core Values at all times.
- Participate in training in both classroom and OJT.
- Participate in arduous physical training and maintain a constant state of readiness.
- Reinforce the Chain of Command at all times.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Background check results satisfactory to Elk Creek Fire Protection District.
- Must have the legal right to work in the United States.
- Must be willing to relocate within a commutable distance to Pine, CO.
- Previous wildland fire experience strongly desired.

The Fuels Crew Crewmember is a primary Wildland Fire Position, and will be expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times under the direction of the Fuels Crew Lead and Fuels Crew Foreman.
