Position Description

To further the mission of the camp through the planning and delivery of a services that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the participants' ages and abilities. Camp provides services to various visiting groups (Leadership Retreats, High Altitude Trainings, School Trips, Summer Camp, Conferences, Weddings, etc.) and is looking for individuals that are open for new experiences or learning new skills (e.g. Food & Beverage, Grounds Care, Administration, Programs & Activity Instructions, and more). If you're a person with a multitude of interests and passions and have the undying urge to explore new things and acquire more knowledge and different skills then you have come to the right place!

Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 18
  • must have reliable transportation
  • Current certification in first aid and CPR

Hours and Other Information

  • 16-32 hours per week, most weekends required
  • Seasonal Position: December-May 2024

Location

YMCA Camp Whittle is located near Big Bear Lake, CA. It can accommodate about 450 participants and offers various customizable packages that can include food service, activities and programs for attending groups in a camp environment.

Responsibilities & Qualifications:

  1. This position calls for "Jacks of all Trades"
  2. Assists with scheduled tasks/ duties (e.g. Housekeeping, Food & Beverage Prep, Programs, Grounds Care, or Admin support)
  3. Assists in facilitating activities and events. Ensure that facilities are set-up according to activity specifications.
  4. Create a warm and welcoming environment by warmly greeting all participants.
  5. Demonstrate positive character values and integrity.
  6. Ensure that facilities are clean and free of safety hazards, both before and after participants at camp
  7. Provide excellent customer service and cultivate a fun, friendly and safe environment.
  8. Monitor the facility and/or event area and respond to inquiries by providing accurate and thorough information at all times.
  9. Comply with and enforce all branch policies and best practices. Positively interpret these policies and practices to members.
  10. Demonstrate appropriate professionalism and initiative and execute all responsibilities with a focus on achieving Association goals and objectives.
  11. Report incidents, equipment or facility issues, policy violations and unusual situations to the appropriate supervisor/director.
  12. Maintain a professional appearance
