Job Summary
To conduct the movement of products efficiently, professionally, and safely within the time frame allotted. To provide excellent customer service and accurate deliveries. This position will mostly consist of School District Deliveries, working mid-August through mid-June, with a furlough available during the off season.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
- Inspect loads to ensure that cargo is secure.
- Maintain logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
- Drive trucks with capacities greater than 3 tons, including tractor-trailer combinations, to transport and deliver product, if it is route required.
- Must be proficient in trailer coupling and uncoupling per DOT requirements, if required.
- Maintain a clean truck and trailer following established cleaning procedures.
- Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
- Check all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Safely deliver loads at the specified delivery time without product damage.
- Compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, local speed and traffic laws, and customer rules.
- Treat customers and other motorists with courtesy and respect.
- Open communication with Supervisor and/or Manager concerning any issues or problems that may occur.
- Loading, unloading, rotating, and stocking of product following FIFO requirements (First in, first out)
- Inventorying product delivered to Customers to validate invoice and getting required signatures for the product delivered.
- Inventorying product when picking up from Suppliers and obtaining required signatures.
- Drivers are required to ensure that all transactions are accounted for and accurate using handheld devices or appropriate Medosweet forms.
- Drivers must follow planned route to ensure company efficiencies and customer needs are met.
- Display a positive, customer service attitude to all customers, both internal and external.
- Follow up on customer requests promptly.
- Any product required from the warehouse must be coordinated with the warehouse personnel and documented correctly.
- At times, will be required to be “ON CALL” or “STANDBY” to cover routes.

Education
High School or equivalent.
Certificates
- Valid CDL in your state of residence is desired, but not required.
- Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam.
- Pre-employment and subsequent random alcohol and drug testing must have negative results.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drive test.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
--Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
--May be regularly required to sit for up to 14 hours per day.
--Regularly required to climb in and out of a truck cab several times a day.
--Must be able to use a hand truck with loads up to 300 lbs.
Work Environment
Must work outdoors in all weather and road conditions within safe driving standards.
Must work indoors in chilled/frozen environments.
