Boise Cascade has an opening for a Payroll Supervisor with an expertise in payroll taxes. This opening will have the option to work from home 2 days a week after training! Come grow with us!

Description:

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will provide leadership to the payroll team in the preparation, processing, and documentation of payrolls for Boise Cascade. This position requires an extensive understanding of multi-state taxes and payroll regulations, to ensure accuracy and efficiency among processes, reporting, and compliance. This position ensures payrolls are processed accurately and directs the workflow of the payroll team. As a member of the payroll team, the successful candidate will lead with a can-do attitude and be detail oriented with an analytical eye for audit and process improvement.

You Will:

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the payroll department to complete and validate the company’s multi-state payroll taxes, bonus payments, tax setup and report delivery.
  • Coach and train payroll team members in a professional office setting, with ongoing one-on-one meetings and reviews of performance.
  • Ensure payroll is processed timely and accurately in accordance with federal, state and local regulations.
  • Coordinate year-end W2 processing and payroll tax filings by required deadlines.
  • Partner with internal resources to review and test release of updates to payroll processing systems.
  • Answer questions and provide customer service to internal and external customers regarding payroll matters.
  • Incorporate a continuous improvement mindset to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all employee information and payroll records.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to find opportunities for process improvement and/or automation.
  • May work with external customers and vendors to deliver associate payroll, benefit, and insurance programs.
  • Demonstrate strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5 years payroll experience in a multi-state environment, preferably public company.
  • FPC or CPP certification preferred.
  • Experience leading payroll professionals.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable state, federal and local payroll and tax regulations, legislation, and guidelines.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skillset
  • Calm approach to assess, problem solve, organize and prioritize critical issues.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills required.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Preferred time and labor systems experience
  • Possess a basic understanding of HR/payroll compliance in employment practices.
