Job Description
Job Title: Sports Coordinator, YMCA
Description: Under the direction of the Association Director of Sports, coordinates the general administration of the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg's youth and adult physical education and sports programs, leaders and volunteers and related activities. Supervises staff & volunteers, develops & implements youth sports programs and ensures member satisfaction. Oversees use of YMCA and community facilities to deliver sports programs. Develops and maintains rapport between public, civic, professional and voluntary agencies.
Job Duties:
1. Assists with the selection, supervision, training and evaluation of volunteers assigned to the designated areas of responsibility.
2. Assists with supervision of sports programs to insure delivery of high quality & mission emphasis.
3. Assists association sports director in assigning athletes to teams and communicating program and team info to parents/guardians.
4. Responds to problems and needs of YMCA members and participants in a timely manner.
5. Ensures that quality programs result in incremental growth in retention, participation, enrollment and revenue
6. Actively participates in all activities involving membership recruitment and retention.
7. Helps maintain accurate participation records of members & participants.
8. Assures that field areas are safe and clean.
9. Maintains security of the game area, while actively promoting a family-friendly atmosphere.
10. Acts as on-site sports coordinator during practice and game day.
11. Sets up facilities, including opening and closing the building, if applicable. This may also include the
maintenance of athletic fields.
12. Supervises and supports officials, staff and coaches during practice and games.
13. Arranges for substitutes in the absence of officials, if needed. May even step in as a referee, if needed.
14. Maintains working condition of equipment, reports any used or worn out items to the Association Director of Sports.
15. Coordinates sports season kick-offs and end of the season banquets.
16. Coordinates and participates in off-site Physical Education programming.
17. Maintains positive program public relations and acts as a central point of communication.
18. Implements first aid and safety procedures according to our Association's policies.
19. Attends required abuse risk management training.
20. Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements.
21. Adheres to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum age of 18.
2. High School Diploma/GED or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3. Knowledge/experience in coaching, planning and supervising a sports program.
4. Certifications: CPR/AED and First Aid required in the first 90 days of employment.
5. Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
6. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

- Bardmoor YMCA (8495 Bryan Dairy Road, Largo, FL 33773)
- Speer YMCA ( 495 62nd Ave NE, St. Petersburg, FL 33702)
- Gills YMCA (3200 1st Ave S, St. Petersburg, FL 33712)
Pay & Perks: $17.50-$20.00/hour. Full Time. Free individual YMCA membership for employee and family.
