Sports Performance Coach
Ackerman SFC is a vibrant and community-focused fitness center committed to promoting health and wellness. We are looking for energetic, passionate, and skilled individuals to join our team as Sports Performance Coaches. With state-of-the-art facilities, diverse athletics and fitness programs, and a team of dedicated professionals, we strive to provide an atmosphere that motivates individuals to achieve their fitness goals.
We are seeking passionate and experienced Sports Performance Coaches to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidates will have a strong background in sports science, exercise physiology, and performance enhancement. As a Sports Performance Coach, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing customized training programs to elevate skills and enhance sports performance for athletes of all levels. These programs are designed for athletic teams as well as individual athletes. We are looking for someone to develop and maintain strength and conditioning programs for all the varied sports offered by the Park District, with the primary focus on improving athletic performance, reducing athletic injuries, and teaching lifelong fitness and movement skills specific to their sport. Duties include conducting fitness orientations and assessments of clients while providing direction on proper equipment use to target specific areas of the body. Will develop individual exercise programs for clients based on the client’s health history, physical fitness level, and desired goals and objectives. Additional duties include but are not limited to, providing instruction on proper form and safety, nutrition coaching, and documentation to track progress.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement effective strength, conditioning, speed, and agility programs tailored to individual athletes' needs.
- Utilize the latest sports science techniques and technology to optimize athletic performance.
- Collaborate with coaching staff to integrate performance training into overall team strategies.
- Conduct initial assessments and evaluation tools to identify strengths, developmental needs, and track progress for each athlete.
- Develop and implement injury prevention strategies and collaborate with medical professionals on rehabilitation plans.
- Monitor and analyze athlete performance to make informed decisions for continuous improvement and establish new goals.
- Educate and motivate athletes on the importance of proper training, nutrition, and recovery strategies.
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will be a leader who is outgoing, values integrity and has a passion for health and fitness.
- A Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or a related field and NSCA -CSCS (Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist) certification is required.
- Knowledge of exercise physiology, anatomy, and nutrition.
- Relevant certifications such as CSCS, NSCA, or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Sports Performance Coach preferred.
- Proven history of working with athletes in various sports at a variety of levels.
- Requires strong people and customer service skills with effective listening and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire clients to achieve their fitness goals.
- Ability to work collaboratively with coaching staff.
- Strong/Effective analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate and adjust protocols as needed.
- Capacity to act calmly and efficiently in difficult or emergency situations.
- Good organizational skills with close attention to detail are essential.
- Must be CPR/AED certified or obtain within 30 days of hire (we provide this training).
