Job Description
Job Summary:
Responsible for instruction of Sports / Recreation programs classes and services at JCC.
Assist in coordination of special events (sport and recreation) for the Fitness and Wellness department.
Assist with Instruction of ECE gym program and children’s enrichment classes.
Develop new program opportunities in areas of sports / recreation (children / teens / adult)
Assist in coordinating adult sports and recreation leagues (Basketball)
Assist in coordinating South Jersey Maccabi, Mid Atlantic Jr. Maccabi, and Jr. Maccabi Basketball League.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain records and statistics with respect to S&L programs & classes – i.e., schedules, classes, attendance sheets, maintenance schedule of equipment, facility usage, etc.
- Implement and Instruct Fitness and Wellness department sports and recreation programs for children & adults.
- In conjunction with Sports and Leagues Director, develop and implement NEW innovative classes and special events for children within the Fitness and Wellness Dept.
- Instruct JCC ECE physical education classes and special programs (i.e., summer kinder camp)
- Develop, coordinate, and instruct after school enrichment classes for pre-school and elementary children, i.e., youth basketball league, sports skills classes, leagues, etc.
- Maintain positive relationships and communication with members and participants of JCC Fitness and Wellness classes and programs (i.e., parents of kids in classes)
- Participate in JCC Open Houses on behalf of the Fitness and Wellness Department
- In conjunction with the Sports / Leagues Director, coordinate the scheduling of the Fitness and Wellness S&L facility and the use of equipment (i.e.: team practices, outside rentals, gym programs / events, birthday parties, etc.)
- Responsible for ordering equipment and supplies and ensuring that equipment is properly cared for, secured, and maintained.
- Maintain First Aid / CPR / AED training and to use these skills when necessary
- Along with maintenance department – provide ongoing care for and maintenance to Fitness and Wellness equipment and facilities. Report unclean conditions, safety hazards and malfunctioning equipment
- Assist in the promotion of Fitness and Wellness department and integration with other JCC departments to ensure the productive, effective, and efficient operation of the Agency.
- As a representative of the agency, maintain proper relationships with public and private agencies for the purpose of developing inter-agency programs.
- Additional responsibilities may be added periodically based upon the needs of the Fitness and Wellness department of the Katz JCC.
- It is essential that all staff participate in a variety of agency-wide activities. Staff should be knowledgeable about our agency and be able to respond appropriately with accurate information.
Required Education & Experience:
- Experience working with kids.
- Basketball background
- Flexibility
Additional Technical Requirements:
- Building brackets, schedules, and prior supervisor experience of 10-15 employees.
