General Manager - Jive Sports Bar

Position Summary:
Jive Sports Bar, part of Milford Hospitality Group, seeks a dynamic and results-driven General Manager to oversee all aspects of the operation, including front-of-house (FOH), back-of-house (BOH), and pop-up theme bars in the front lounge. Reporting directly to the Area Director of Operations, the General Manager will be responsible for delivering exceptional guest experiences, driving financial performance, and leading a motivated team to ensure operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead, develop, and motivate FOH and BOH teams, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and exceptional service.
  • Recruit, hire, and train staff to align with Milford Hospitality Group’s core values and operational standards.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide coaching, and implement corrective actions as necessary in collaboration with Human Resources.

Operations Management:

  • Oversee the daily operations of Jive, ensuring smooth service flow and operational efficiency in all areas.
  • Monitor and maintain high standards of cleanliness, product quality, and service to exceed guest expectations.
  • Execute creative and profitable pop-up theme bar concepts in the front lounge, aligning with market trends and guest interests.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including health and safety standards.

Guest Experience:

  • Actively engage with guests by touching tables, addressing concerns, and ensuring 100% satisfaction.
  • Champion a guest-first culture, leveraging guest feedback to implement service enhancements.

Financial & Strategic Oversight:

  • Drive profitability by managing labor costs, liquor costs, and other controllable expenses.
  • Analyze financial reports to monitor performance against budget, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategic solutions.
  • Collaborate with the Area Director of Operations to develop short- and long-term business strategies for Jive’s success.

Vendor & Community Relations:

  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors to optimize purchasing and negotiate favorable agreements.
  • Represent Jive in the local community, fostering goodwill and establishing strong connections with neighboring businesses and organizations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in restaurant or bar management, with a strong background in both FOH and BOH operations.
  • Proven expertise in creating and executing innovative bar programs and theme concepts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, POS systems (e.g., MICROS), and scheduling software.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to inspire and lead diverse teams.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 4+ hours per day.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and push/pull up to 50 pounds.
