Our clinics are located at 978 Worcester Street (Route 9) in Wellesley and the Boston Landing location at 73 Guest Street in Boston. Our Per Diem PAs are required to work 2-3 shifts per month and our greatest need is for weekend coverage. We have weekday evening shifts in Wellesley from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and weekend shifts in both Wellesley and Boston from 8:00am to 1:00pm.Our Orthopedic Walk-In clinic is staffed by Orthopedic Physician Assistants and supported by board-certified surgeons from Newton-Wellesley Sports Medicine. Our team can assist with any orthopedic or sports medicine issue and is available to anyone in the community, with no appointment necessary. Services for adults and children (ages 5 and up) include:Acute and chronic pain to the hip, hand, wrist, elbow, knee, neck, back, shoulder, foot, and ankleRotator cuff injuryJoint instabilityCollar bone injuryBicep injuryTennis elbowHamstring injuryMeniscal tearAnkle sprainsArthritis and bursitisAcute hand or wrist injuryOur PAs work under the clinical supervision of the Medical Director and Lead Walk-In PA as well as the operational direction of the Practice Manager. The Physician Assistant is responsible for: Performing & documenting appropriate and comprehensive orthopedic history and physical examPerforming diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including, but not limited to:osplint, brace or cast application/removalowound care/debridementosuturing/suture removaloinjection of steroid and anesthetic agentojoint aspirationEducating, instructing and counseling patients and familiesOrdering and interpreting x-rays, MRIs and other diagnostic tests as neededDetermining/coordinating the treatment plan and follow-up schedulingFollowing up with patients regarding results and ongoing treatmentConsulting with appropriate resources as needed and referring to appropriate specialtiesDocumenting patients' treatment, response and progress notes and entering orders in EPIC in accordance with Medical Staff policiesReviewing patient cases with on-call physician as neededProviding first-level response to acute patient complications and emergencies and initiating appropriate measuresEnsuring completion of daily opening and closing proceduresUnderstanding and promoting overall goals of the walk-in care program and its integration with the NWH Sports Medicine DepartmentManaging In-Basket Messages and Phone CallsParticipating in PA meetings and trainingsQualificationsQualifications:Education•Required: Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program with a Master's degreeLicensure•Required: Current Massachusetts state license as a Physician Assistant Experience•Preferred: 3+ years of experience working as a Physician Assistant in an acute orthopedics settingEEO StatementMass General Brigham is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
