Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm; occasional Saturdays on a rotating schedule

Your Impactful Role

As a Patient Account Coordinator, you'll be at the forefront of our patient experience. You will handle various responsibilities, including front desk management, scheduling, verifying benefits, obtaining authorizations, and managing patient accounts for our Physical Therapy Department.

  • Create Welcoming Atmosphere: Maintain an organized front desk workspace and greet patients and visitors with a courteous and helpful attitude.
  • Efficient Check-In/Out: Efficiently check in patients, verify appointments, update demographic information, and process insurance and referrals.
  • Effective Communication: Answer incoming calls, provide directions to our facility, and ensure clear communication with therapists regarding scheduling and patient needs.
  • Financial Management: Handle point-of-service payments, maintain a daily collection sheet, and reconcile daily receivables. Create insurance claims and patient statements.
  • Patient Advocacy: Assist patients in understanding their billing, establish payment plans, and follow up on outstanding balances.
  • Insurance Expertise: Obtain insurance verifications and prior authorizations, communicate with adjusters, and stay up-to-date with third-party billing and reimbursement.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues to identify and address any AR trends, denial issues, or irregularities affecting daily workflow.
  • Compliance: Adhere to compliance and regulatory requirements, and make recommendations to management for write-offs.
  • Versatile Support: Be ready to fill in at any location as needed due to absences or understaffing.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED (Bachelor's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of one year of medical billing and account follow-up experience.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and modifiers preferred.
  • Understanding of Medicare, managed care, and commercial insurance products and plans.
  • Familiarity with physician billing and collections.
  • Typing speed of 55 wpm and proficient use of a calculator.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: This role involves regular use of hands and arms, repetitive movements, and prolonged periods of sitting and computer use. The ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds and deal with stressful situations is essential. You will work in a moderate noise level environment. Interactions may include dealing with a variety of patient behaviors, and you should maintain a calm and professional demeanor.
