Position Summary
The Center for Advanced Cardiac Care (CACC) at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic candidate to join our team as a full-time Research Worker. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Nir Uriel and the research team on a variety of research projects in the realm of advanced heart failure, mechanocirculatory support, and heart transplantation. As part of a dynamic research environment, the ideal candidate should be adaptable to working in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Generate research questions, gather data from the electronic medical record and/or clinical registries, and recruit participants for investigator-initiated trials.
- Perform biostatistical analyses of clinical data to answer research questions.
- Provide biostatistical support to other members of the research team.
- Maintain effective communication with the research team, providing regular updates on progress and challenges.
- Prepare scientific abstracts and article manuscripts for submission to academic conferences and journals.
- Provide support in any way as needed to ensure smooth operation of the research team.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. biomedical sciences, public health, biomedical engineering, computer science, or a related discipline) and at least 3 years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Python, R, SPSS, or SAS.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and evolving research environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with a significant data analysis component.
- Familiarity with cardiovascular research.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Experience with biostatistical analysis.
- Prior abstract/journal publications.
- Experience working with patients in a hospital setting.
Other Requirements
- The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to final offer of employment being made.
- Must successfully complete systems training requirements.
- Participation in Medical Surveillance Program:
- Contact with patients and/or human research subjects
- Wear N-95 respirator
- Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure
