We are looking for a Purchasing Agent/Specialist for our joint venture Dry Dock project located at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam located on Oahu, Hawaii.

This position is responsible for the purchase, scheduling, and coordinating shipment of goods to ensure that the construction project has the materials and equipment necessary to be successful. This position assumes responsibility of the areas of purchasing, production scheduling, ordering, and coordinating shipments with DHOs Logistics Manager. In addition, the position supports the tracing and control of inventory, contract negotiation with vendors and suppliers, and the evaluation of current and new suppliers.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Initiate or receive field purchase requisitions and work project management for approval.
  • Research vendor/supplier prices, delivery dates, etc. through written bid or verbal quote. Prepare bid summaries/evaluations.
  • Negotiate and place purchase order (change order) with selected vendor and prepare documentation.
  • Negotiate equipment rental agreements with suppliers, document terms, complete insurance forms.
  • Negotiate and place long term or "blanket" purchase orders for routine (constantly required) materials, administer such contracts.
  • Expedite/coordinate material deliveries, invoice problems with accounting and vendor, quality requirements with Engineering, and material identification with Material Control.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS USED:

  • Educational and experience requirements include Four-year (technical or business) degree or equivalent combination technical training and/or related experience.
  • Minimum 5 years construction material procurement experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of procurement/vendor inspection techniques and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of accounting and financial management.
  • Business contract law preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Starting Salary: $70,000.00/yr.
