Salary: $15-$18 hourly + tips

MAJOR FUNCTIONS
This is semi-skilled level work performing marina responsibilities including ship’s
store and fuel dock duties under the supervision of the Harbormaster. Responsible
for the safe mooring of vessels and general operations of the docks by facilitating
and assisting in coordinating the arrival and departure of vessels, operating the
fueling system, fueling customer boats, maintaining a safe and clean environment,
and acting as the initial liaison between customers and the marina management
team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
 A daily inspection of the marina to ensure the security of the boats, slips,
docks, electrical and water outlets.
 Determine each shift that no unauthorized boats have docked or have tied
up without permission.
 Welcome new slip holders and/or transient boaters in a manner which
expresses a kind, courteous and professional character.
 Must be able to travel to other company properties in the Charleston area,
if/as needed.
 Ability to work in a team environment.

 Maintain clean restrooms, docks, walkways, grounds, and other areas
designated by the Harbormaster.
 Perform daily trash removal and dispose of as directed. Daily pick up of litter
on grounds and in water.
 Maintain the daily operation of the sewage pumping system.
 Line handling skills including ability to tie bowline, half hitch, toss and cleat
lines.
 Communicate with boaters via VHF radio in a professional maritime manner.
 Adapting to changing priorities to meet customer or teammate needs.
 Vessel inspections consisting of vessel stability, frayed lines, electrical cords,
or other concerns.
 The ability to coordinate marina functions with minimum supervision, and in
the absence of the director.
 The ability to operate all fuel dispensers in compliance with safety codes as
provided by the U.S. Coast Guard, Department of Natural Resources, and
the City of Charleston.
 The ability to operate credit card processor.
 The ability to perform marina duties including but not limited to washing
marina/ member boats, maintaining clean docks, assisting Boat Club
Manager with daily Boat Club operations.
 Knowledge of all piers, location of slips and electrical power availability and
amperage.
 Report any “sheen” in the water to Harbormaster.
 Pressure washing and general cleaning of company boats.
 Assist with pump out procedures.
 Ability to work weekends holidays.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
 Must be able to swim.
 Basic boat handling knowledge.
 Ability to adapt in a fast-paced work environment.
 Provide customer service/disseminate information
 A knowledge of tides and currents.
 Knowledge of emergency spill procedures.
 Ability to determine electrical requirements for all slips.
 A knowledge and skill in working with basic maintenance of docks as used in
repairs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

One to Two (1-2) years’ experience in fuel dock duties desired. Prior marina
experience preferred. Prior customer service experience preferred. Boat handling
experience preferred. A comparable amount of training or experience may be
substituted for the minimum qualifications. Must have a valid South Carolina
Driver’s License.
