MAINTENANCE WORKER
Parish of the Most Holy Name of Jesus, is seeking a part-time Maintenance Worker. Hours are 14 to 21 hours a week with a wage range of $18 to $22 per hour depending on experience and talents. This position works with a team under a Maintenance Supervisor.
POSITION PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to provide cleaning and light maintenance for the parish buildings and grounds.
LIST OF POSSIBLE JOB DUTIES:
1. Assures the church building is maintained in a clean and orderly manner. Accomplishes this by mopping and vacuuming floors, cleaning bathrooms and washing windows.
2. Assures the grounds are maintained in a clean and safe manner. Responsible for mowing, watering, and edging lawns, snow removal with plowing equipment and hand shovels, blowing walkways, weeding, pruning, and raking on a seasonal basis.
3. Performs minor maintenance of the rectory and church buildings. Accomplishes this by doing light carpentry work, painting, and minor repair work on the facilities as needed. Maintaining ac units and heating units.
4. Provides other general assistance as needed through setting up the chairs, tables in the facilities as requested, hauling and moving items, and picking up parts to other equipment as requested by staff.
5. Assures the collection and disposal of trash.
6. Completes routine, non-routine, and emergency maintenance and repairs
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Successful work experience in minor repair work in carpentry, painting, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical.
2. Successful work experience implementing a comprehensive cleaning plan for a facility, including sweeping, dusting, washing, and waxing.
3. Successful work experience maintaining grounds and parking lots.
4. Ability to provide own transportation for job-related responsibilities.
5. On-call availability for emergencies.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
1. Ability to work comfortably at heights such as climbing stairs, ladders, platforms and lifts.
2. Good physical condition: Ability to push, lift, twist, bend, stoop, pull, lift and carry heavy objects and equipment (50+ pounds).
3. Ability to work outside in various temperatures and inclement weather conditions.
4. Ability to stand on your feet for extended periods of time.
