POSITION: Maintenance Worker I

SUPERVISOR: Director of Support Services - Immediate Supervisor
Superintendent - General Supervisor

PURPOSE
Provide technical expertise and manual skill in the inspection, servicing and repair of the buildings, grounds, equipment and furnishings.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School Graduate or satisfactory completion of General Education Development (GED). Post-secondary training in a trade is desirable.
2. Must be physically capable and willing to perform required tasks in general maintenance.
3. Must have a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
4. Must know math computations skills.
5. Minimum one year experience in maintenance/repair procedures (e.g., mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, etc.)

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Comply with the state approved Code of Ethics of the Education Profession and uphold and enforce department/unit rules, administrative directives and regulations, Board Policy, and State and Federal regulations.
2. Performs maintenance duties. Installs equipment. Repairs structures, windows, doors, equipment, and furnishings.
3. Cleans, moves, and arranges furnishings, supplies, and equipment as directed.
4. Repairs a variety of items or systems, with little or no supervision. Some requiring skills of maintenance trades (e.g. electrical, plumbing, electronics, locksmith, painting, safety rails, doors, locks, windows, pumps, toilets, plumbing fixtures, carpets, etc.)
5. Avoids disrupting building activities except during emergencies. Consults with supervisor to schedule major repairs and ensure compliance with building codes and ADA accessibility standards.
6. Deals with unexpected situations (e.g., accidents, equipment failure, etc.) Follows approved safety procedures to clean up injuries involving chemicals, solvents, blood, body fluids and/or body tissues. Participated in occupational safety and health training programs as directed.
7. Monitors, regulates, and inspects HVAC equipment as directed. Helps prepare boilers and other equipment for annual inspections, maintenance activities, and/or shutdown.
8. Performs routine grounds keeping activities (e.g., mows grass, trims tree/shrubs, painting, etc.)
9. Maintains playground areas and equipment as directed.
10. Assists with snow removal operations district wide as directed.
11. Performs routine preventive maintenance activities (e.g., lubricates moving parts, replaces filters, cleans equipment, adjusts/replaces belts, light bulbs, changes oil, prepares items for storage, etc.)
12. Picks-up and delivers equipment, materials, and other supplies as directed.
13. Assists other staff as needed to deal with unexpected or urgent situations.
14. Monitors building conditions. Reports suspected problems and/or unsafe conditions (e.g., unusual odors, discolorations, noises, leaks, etc.)
15. Anticipates and prepares for fire, health and safety inspections. Monitors safety equipment (e.g., electrical, lighting, alarm systems, etc.) as directed. Maintains clear routes for emergency egress.
16. Reports vandalism, graffiti, equipment malfunctions, and other concerns.
17. Transports various items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.
18. Wears work attire appropriate for the position.
19. Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information.
20. Participates in staff meetings and professional growth opportunities as directed.
21. Perform other assigned tasks required by the supervisor(s).

9. Exposure to air-borne particulates, chemical irritants, combustible materials, electrical hazards equipment vibrations, noises, and odors.
10. Exposure to wet and/or slippery surfaces.
11. Exposure to blood-borne pathogens and communicable diseases.
12. Lifting, carrying, and moving work-related supplies/equipment.
13. Performing tasks that require strenuous physical exertion.
14. Working at various heights, in confined spaces, and/or variable/diminished lighting.
15. Working in proximity to moving mechanical parts.
16. Position is identified as Heavy-Duty

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 month, 7.5 Hours Minimum Daily

SALARY: As per district salary schedule

EVALUATION: Performance of the job will be evaluated by the Director of Support Services
