AtWork Personnel Services - NW Houston is hiring: Steel Worker in Conroe

We are seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Steel Plant Worker to join our team at a leading manufacturer and distributor of steel products. In this role, you will be responsible for banding tubular steel products for shipping and ensuring that materials are transported efficiently throughout the plant. The ideal candidate will have experience operating forklifts (front and side load) and overhead cranes, as well as a strong understanding of material handling processes in an industrial setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Banding Steel Products: Securely band tubular steel products using appropriate tools (e.g., steel strapping, banding machines) to ensure they are stable and ready for shipment. Ensure that products are prepared for safe transport and delivery.
• Material Handling: Operate front-load and side-load forklifts to move steel materials, finished products, and supplies throughout the plant and warehouse areas. Safely load and unload trucks as needed.
• Overhead Crane Operation: Operate overhead cranes to lift and move heavy steel products and materials to designated areas for processing, storage, and shipping.
• Shipping Preparation: Assist in organizing materials for outbound shipments, ensuring correct items are loaded and securely transported. Ensure shipping orders are fulfilled accurately and efficiently.
• Inventory Control: Monitor and report material inventory levels to supervisors. Assist with stock rotation, material counts, and ensuring that materials are stored correctly in designated areas.
• Safety and Maintenance: Adhere to all plant safety protocols and industry regulations while operating heavy equipment. Perform routine maintenance checks on forklifts, cranes, and banding tools, and report any issues to the maintenance team.
• Quality Assurance: Inspect materials and finished products for defects, damage, or any discrepancies that could impact the quality of shipments. Notify supervisors of any quality issues.
• Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with production, warehouse, and shipping teams to ensure smooth operations and timely fulfillment of customer orders.

Qualifications:

• Experience: At least 1 years of experience in a manufacturing or steel plant environment, particularly in material handling, shipping, or equipment operation. Experience with banding steel products and operating forklifts and cranes is highly preferred.
• Equipment Proficiency: Experience operating front-load and side-load forklifts, as well as overhead cranes (certification preferred). Ability to operate other plant equipment as necessary.
• Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift heavy materials (up to [X] lbs) and work in a physically demanding environment, including standing, bending, and operating heavy machinery.
• Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality issues in materials and shipments.
• Safety Awareness: Knowledge of and adherence to safety regulations and procedures for working with heavy equipment, steel products, and industrial machinery.

• Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot minor issues with equipment or material handling and communicate effectively with supervisors when issues arise.
