Job Title: Entry-Level Assembler/Solder
Location: Weymouth
Reports To: Production Supervisor or Senior Assembler
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, switches, connectors, and other parts onto printed circuit boards (PCBs) or subassemblies, following blueprints, diagrams, and work instructions.
- Perform basic soldering tasks using hand tools like soldering irons and tweezers to attach electronic components to PCBs, ensuring proper connections and functionality.
- Conduct visual inspections of assembled boards to verify correct component placement and solder joint quality, ensuring compliance with production standards.
- Assist in the functional testing of assemblies to verify electrical and mechanical operation, identifying any defects or issues that may need to be addressed.
- Operate basic assembly tools, soldering irons, and other equipment required for the assembly process, ensuring tools are used correctly and maintained in good working condition.
- Help manage the inventory of components for assembly, ensuring that parts are available for production and reporting any shortages or discrepancies in stock.
- Adhere to electrostatic discharge (ESD) safety protocols to protect sensitive components during assembly and handling.
- Accurately document completed work and report progress or issues to senior assemblers or supervisors, ensuring all tasks are tracked and any problems are addressed in a timely manner.
- Work under the guidance of experienced assemblers to develop skills in advanced assembly and soldering techniques.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote efficiency, safety, and adherence to company cleanliness standards.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent quality and efficiency in the assembly process.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow, assisting with other tasks when necessary.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Basic soldering and assembly skills, with the ability to perform basic soldering tasks.
- Ability to read and understand basic assembly drawings and work instructions.
- Attention to detail, ensuring accurate component placement and quality solder joints.
- Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to handle small components and tools.
- Basic understanding of electronic components and assembly processes.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, learn from senior assemblers, and seek guidance when needed.
- Familiarity with electrostatic discharge (ESD) safety procedures to prevent damage to sensitive electronics.
- Good communication skills to document work and report progress or issues.
