Job Summary/Description:
WXIX FOX19 is searching for a dynamic, engaging Chief Meteorologist to join our First Alert Weather Team. You must possess superior forecasting, storytelling, and communication skills. You must have the ability to lead & inspire a team. We are looking for a meteorologist adept in all aspects of meteorology, including forecasting, graphics presentation, digital presentation, and social media. You will be responsible for delivering accurate & compelling weather forecasts with an emphasis on lifestyle forecasting.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Take ownership and execute our First Alert Weather Brand
- Respond urgently to breaking & severe weather events on all platforms, including linear, digital, and social media
- Produce/Anchor weather reports on all platforms in a clear, engaging, and impactful manner
- Lead weather coverage & special weather reports, ensuring accuracy and clarity
- Strong leadership/teamwork is a must as our meteorologists are involved in the newsroom & Community
- Must have a positive attitude; will be an ambassador for the station by making personal appearances at community events
- Be fluent in the latest weather technology
Qualifications/Requirements:
- 5+ years experience as a broadcast meteorologist/weather anchor
- Degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, or a related field
- AMS and/or NWA Certified meteorologist is preferred
- Strong on-air presence with excellent storytelling abilities
- Proven experience in severe weather coverage
- Proficiency in weather software, graphics & technology
- Valid driver's license and good driving record
