An opportunity exists for a full or part-time hematologist/oncologist at the Milo C. Huempfner Outpatient Clinic, located in Green Bay, WI. The Milo C. Huempfner Outpatient Clinic is a new 162,000 square foot VA primary care and multi-specialty clinic located in Green Bay. The Milo C. Huempfner VA Outpatient Clinic has a full scope hematology/clinic along with an outpatient chemotherapy/infusion center.

The successful candidate should be comfortable performing all aspects of adult hematology/oncology. All care will be provided in an outpatient setting only with no inpatient care responsibilities. Qualified candidates should be BE/BC in Hematology/Oncology. The selected candidate should demonstrate the ability to work well with a large, diverse and dedicated patient care staff.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide expert consultation and treatment to patients in the outpatient Hematology/Oncology clinic.
  • Obtain medical histories, conduct physical examinations, order and evaluate appropriate laboratory testing, and plan and prescribe treatment for patients.
  • Coordinate medical management and care with referring providers and other medical personnel in a multidisciplinary health care delivery system. Provide patient care that is compassionate, appropriate and effective for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, treatment of disease, and care at the end of life.

  • Pursue practice-based learning and improvement. Practitioners are expected to be able to use scientific evidence and methods to investigate, evaluate, and improve patient care.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills that enable one to establish and maintain professional relationships with patients, families, and other members of the health care team.
  • Practice in a manner that reflects a commitment to continuous professional development, ethical practice, and understanding and sensitivity to diversity, and a responsible attitude toward their patients, their profession.
  • Oversee the chemotherapy unit - by, amongst other duties, determining treatment regimens, patient suitability for treatment, and initial management of chemotherapy complications. The candidate may perform diagnostic procedures such as bone marrow biopsy.
  • Participate in staff meetings, hospital committees, and peer review process. Demonstrate effective communication both down to staff and up to leadership, to include heads up (for unanticipated or less than ideal patient outcomes).
  • Maintain VA training requirements, through timely completion of documentation and upkeep of credentials required for privileging and re-privileging as per medical staff by-laws. Participation in the FPPE/OPPE process.
  • Adhere to tour of duties, and submit timely requests for leave in current time management system and for clinic cancellations.
  • Demonstrate timely completion of consults, notes, encounters. Adhere to CPRS documentation rules and requirements, as well as to clinic and OR procedures for patient scheduling and access.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
