Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Ability to relate to children in a positive but firm manner
  2. Good interpersonal and communication skills with children and adults
  3. Ability to work as a member of a team
  4. Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children
  5. Emotionally resilient in working with challenging behaviors
  6. Guiding groups of students through the lunchroom.
  7. Guiding student’s toward appropriate behavior while in lunch line
  8. Assisting younger children in getting lunch trays, milk and condiments.
  9. Helping children in opening lunch items.
  10. Monitoring student behavior and providing appropriate discipline as necessary within guidelines of school rules.
  11. Assisting students in cleaning up after themselves (spills, wiping tables, disposing of trash, etc.).
  12. Helping to wash tables, pick up floor trash and ready condiments between lunch sessions and after lunch period.
  13. Working with kitchen, custodial and instructional staff to implement ways to make the lunchtime run more smoothly and efficiently.
  14. Removing trash from lunchroom and depositing in large waste container(s).
  15. General cleanup of lunchroom.
  16. Other duties as assigned assist the staff of the school in getting adequate lunch breaks while providing appropriate school supervision.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Medium work: ability to lift, push and/or pull objects, which may approximate 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for up to six (6) continuous hours.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, reach and bend; mobility of arms to reach, dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate large and small objects.
  • Work with caustic and non-caustic chemicals.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruption and to supervise a variety of tasks.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • The employee may be required to work around loud noise.
  • Ability to work in an inside environment.


Qualifications:
  1. High School Diploma, completion of GED or equivalent courses
