A laboratory in the division of Translational Sciences and Therapeutics (TST) at Fred Hutch is recruiting a Research Technician II to participate in projects focused on novel gene therapy and gene editing strategies for malignant and infectious diseases.
ResponsibilitiesThe technician will participate in molecular biology efforts, qualify and optimize gene-modified cellular therapies, and contribute to lab managerial tasks. Other duties will include processing of primary tissue samples and participating in novel assay development. Although the position will focus primarily on samples infected with HIV and related viruses, applying similar approaches for other diseases and pathologies will also be explored. The technician will report to the principal investigator and interact with a diverse team of technicians, graduate students, and post-graduate researchers.
QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2 years of experience working in a lab outside of school coursework
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with molecular biology techniques including quantitative PCR and plasmid cloning.
- Previous experience in cell/tissue culture, and a background in infectious disease, vector and/or nanoparticle biology.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: gene therapy/gene editing including chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell manufacturing, microscopy and imaging, multicolor flow cytometry and/or flow-assisted cell sorting.
- Previous experience with preclinical in vivo models of infectious and/or genetic diseases, and/or basic bioinformatics.
- Highly motivated and able to work independently to design and execute experiments, possess a high level of initiative and attention to detail, and be able to multi-task.
- Excellent organizational skills and communication skills (written and oral).

The hourly pay range for this position is from $26.48 to $37.70 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
