We are a 8-bed labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum unit with 2 triage rooms for pregnant patients and 2 rooms for antenatal testing. All rooms are private.
We are a level 1 nursery.
Nurse to patient ratio is 1:3-4 couplets or moms
Nurse to patient ratio for laboring patients is 1:1
Nurse to patient ratio for gynecologic surgical patients is 1:3
Flexible scheduling with weekend rotation
Manager or supervisor on the unit M-F on day shift and night shift (24 hours)
Float Requirements: May be required to float to other units and assist with tasks included in their scope of practice, including assisting in sitting with 1:1 confused patients.
Work Settings Required-Antepartum, Facility births/month <100, Labor and Delivery, High Risk Antepartum, Level 1 Nursery, LDRP, Mother/Baby
Antepartum Care and Procedures Required-Assistant with sterile speculum exam (effacement, dilation, station, presentation), NST, Reflex checks/edema assessment/clonus, Sterile vaginal exam, Triage of obstetrical patients, Use of EFM
Fetal Monitoring Required-Spiral Electrode Placement, Use of EFM, Use of IFM, Use of IUPC, Recognition and Treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
IV Therapy/Phlebotomy Required-Administration of blood and blood products, Drawing Venous Blood, Start and maintain peripheral IV
Medication and Administration Required-Anticoagulants, Anticonvulsants, Antihypertensives, Magnesium Sulfate Therapy, Pitocin, Prostaglandins, Terbutaline, Pyxis
Labor and Delivery Management Required-Amnioinfusion, Assist with high risk delivery, Assist with vaginal delivery, Circulate for C-section, Forceps/vacuum extraction, Hemorrhage/shock, Recover C-Section, Scrub C-Section, Sterile vaginal exam
Neonatal Care in Delivery Room Required-APGAR scores, Baby Nurse, Collect cord samples, ID/Security Banding, Radiant Warmers/Thermoregulation
Newborn Care Required-Assist with Circumcision/Asses site post op, Car Seat Education, Cord Care, Discharge teaching to parents, Infant identification, Metabolic Screen, Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, Newborn Assessment, Newborn hypoglycemia, Phototherapy, Teach circumcision care to parents, Thermoregulation
Pain Manager Required-Epidural Anesthesia, General Anesthesia, Nitrous Oxide, Pain assessment and Management
Postpartum Care and Procedures Required-Baby friendly protocols, Breastfeeding Support/Lactation Support, Episiotomy/Incision Care, Foley Catheter Insertion, Fundus/lochia/perineum care, Would Assessment and Care
Postpartum Care of the Patient with Vaginal Delivery, Cesarean Section, Couplet Care, Multiple Births, Postpartum Hemorrhage, Pregnancy induced hypertension
Professional Topics and Skills Required-Isolation Precautions/PPE, Vaccine Administration
Surgical Case/Procedure Required-Tubal Ligation
Circulate Required - Circulate OR for C-Sections
ACLS, BLS, NRP, EFM Required
AWHONN Advanced Preferred if do not have NCC
Advanced EFM or Intermediate with last 2yrs
STABLE Certifications Preferred
Charge Experience Preferred
Epic Preferred
2 Years Minimum Experience Required
Unit Does Not Accepts 1st time travelers
No local travelers 50 miles or less
