Job Summary :
As an Orthopedic Surgeon within the United States Air Force Medical Center, you will be entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring the musculoskeletal health and wellbeing of our esteemed service members and beneficiaries. Your expertise will be pivotal in diagnosing, treating, and managing the care of patients with musculoskeletal disorders and injuries, ensuring they can perform at their peak and/or return to optimal function post-injury. The unique setting of the Air Force demands a blend of excellent clinical skills and the ability to communicate and connect with diverse individuals within a dynamic, service-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities :
* Clinical Expertise :
* Perform orthopedic surgeries and procedures with precision and adherence to established protocols.
* Provide non-operative and pre/post-operative care to patients with musculoskeletal injuries.
* Patient Care :
* Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care, mindful of the specific needs of military personnel and their families.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to formulate comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation plans.
* Readiness and Deployment :
* Ensure the musculoskeletal readiness of active-duty personnel to deploy at a moment s notice.
* Potentially deploy to provide orthopedic care in varied and challenging environments.
* Research and Training :
* Engage in research activities aimed at enhancing the orthopedic care of Air Force personnel.
* Participate in the education and training of orthopedic residents, medical students, and allied health professionals.
* Community Involvement :
* Participate in community events, health fairs, and other outreach activities to promote orthopedic health.
* Advocate for orthopedic health and injury prevention within the Air Force community.
Qualifications :
* Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited institution.
* Completed residency in Orthopedic Surgery.
* Board certification in Orthopedic Surgery.
* A valid medical license.
* Ability to secure and maintain all required Air Force security and medical clearances.
* Excellent surgical, diagnostic, and communication skills.
* Commitment to continual learning and skill enhancement in the field of orthopedic surgery.
