Business Unit Manager, Underwriting Governance & Controls - SVP

Citi continues to enhance its in-business controls and governance framework by building out Institutional Credit Management (ICM), to house and consistently manage credit risk activities performed across its legacy Institutional Client Group organization. ICM’s objective is to provide integrated “end-to-end” credit underwriting, identification, measurement, management, and monitoring for wholesale credit risk across the enterprise.  Within ICM, the Credit Underwriting function (ICM-UW) provides analysis, greenlight, underwriting, first-line-of-defense credit approval and subsequent credit monitoring across all institutional wholesale credit businesses including Corporate Banking, Securitization & Specialized Products (SSP), Treasury & Trade Services (TTS), Markets, and Securities Services.This role will report to the ICM-UW Head of Governance and Controls.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Support various ICM-UW verticals to implement, monitor, and govern the governance and controls framework including the following:Manage the overall governance and controls framework for certain ICM-UW verticalsProvides project support to ensure execution under ICM-UW owned Issues/CAPsEnsure controls framework is fit for purpose for assigned ICM-UW verticals, specifically the ARCM and MCA frameworkCoordinate the development and implementation of Quality Control framework across the ICM-UW verticalsEnsure adequate oversight and management of internal and external audits, including Regulatory, FCR and Internal AuditEngage with ICM-UW verticals to understand any concerns regarding execution of the control environment and/or other applicable emerging concerns which will need to be addressed by the teamInterface with ICM-UW verticals to develop and assess adequacy of KPIs to drive scorecard metrics and facilitate the reporting of results and trendsEnsure ongoing and timely feedback to vertical heads to sustain a strong control culture and an unwavering commitment to excellence in executionSummarize and present key themes to Senior leaders and present recommendations to facilitate improvementSupport the broader ICM-UW team and other global function/business partners on strategic initiatives/projects as appropriateSPECIFIC RISK and GOVERNANCE EXPERIENCE:Possesses a working knowledge of the relevant procedures, policies, and related process workflows that govern the end-to-end delivery of creditStrong operational risk management knowledge and practical application (e.g. issues management, ARCM and MCA design)Experience in effectively engaging with banking regulators, FCR, and Internal AuditThorough knowledge of Citis systems and operational infrastructureProven experience in facilitating the execution of key processes that enable prompt execution of the monitoring and management of risksAbility to provide strategic insights and strong sensitivity to macro and regulatory issues, and impact of such issues on the various risk families, including operational and franchise risksQUALIFICATIONS:BA/BS or higher degree in Business, Finance or equivalent experience, Master’s degree preferred10+ years risk/risk-related credit work experience in banking/financial institutionsAdvanced Microsoft skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)Demonstrates strong ethics and integrityStrong leadership.
