HELICOPTER EMS (HEMS) MEDICAL DIRECTOR ROLE- ACADEMIC EMERGENCY MEDICINE, THE MEDICAL COLLEGE OF WISCONSIN IN MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN

The Department of Emergency Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin is actively seeking board eligible/board certified Emergency Medicine and EMS Physician to join our team in various clinical academic, VA, and community-based hospital settings.   

Opportunity Highlights:

The HEMS medical director will collaborate with and oversee the clinical care, quality improvement processes, education, and community engagement aspects with our partner, Flight For Life.

 

Join a team of dedicated clinician educators, researchers and clinicians who have a growing academic emergency medicine and EMS practice, now at seven hospital sites and three HEMS bases.  Our department has hosted one of the oldest, continuously accredited Emergency Medicine and EMS Fellowship programs in the United States

 

The Emergency Department team brings nationally recognized expertise in a wide range of academic areas including EMS and Disaster Medicine, Toxicology, Injury Prevention and Control, Cardiac Resuscitation, Global Health, Ultrasound, Medical Education and ED Process Improvement.

Successful candidates should bring strong clinical abilities, well-refined interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and commitment to MCWs academic missions.

Position Requirements:

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine and in EMS subspecialty certification
  • Eligible for medical licensure in Wisconsin
  • Teaching, patient care, research, and administrative duties

 

Flight for Life (FFL)

Flight For life understands the importance of strong community partnerships, which is why we work closely with our customers to provide safe, high-quality, customer oriented, evidence-based medical transportation. Positive outcomes for patients are best achieved through teamwork. A partnership with your community hospital or pre-hospital team is essential in providing continuity of care during a patients experience.

Flight For Life received its accreditation in 1996 and was the first program in Wisconsin to achieve CAMTS accreditation.  Flight For Life provides highly skilled teams to care for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.  This accreditation shows that as a program, Flight For Life provides the highest quality patient care while maintaining rigorous safety standards. Flight for Life recently celebrated its 40-year anniversary with over 40,000 incident-free patient transports. The Medical College of Wisconsins Department of Emergency Medicine is a founding partner of Flight For Life and has been its continuous medical director since 1984.
