NORTON CHILDRENS SURGERY, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine, and a part of Norton Childrens Medical Group, is seeking a board-certified, fellowship[1]trained pediatric surgeon interested in a leadership role in pediatric surgery. This surgeon will join a team of expert clinicians that includes six board-certified pediatric surgeons, five nurse practitioners and multiple skilled providers caring for pediatric surgery patients from birth through adolescence. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to develop leadership and administrative skills through participation in our American College of Surgeons (ACS) verification programs for childrens surgery and trauma care.

This opportunity will provide a career focus on quality and process improvement. The ideal candidate also will be appropriate for the rank of associate professor or professor.

All of our pediatric surgeons perform a broad spectrum of pediatric operations. They also serve as faculty in the UofL School of Medicine Department of Surgery and educate the next generation of surgeons through our involvement in the General Surgery Residency Program and Pediatric Surgery Fellowship. The team has led Norton Childrens Hospitals efforts in achieving the highest level of certification (Level I) through both the ACS Childrens Surgery Verification Program and the ACS Trauma Verification Program

ABOUT THE POSITION:

  • Collaborate with neonatologists, pediatric critical care specialists, emergency medicine specialists, pediatric hospitalists, pediatricians, gastroenterologists, all surgical subspecialists and adult surgeons.
  • Perform the entire spectrum of pediatric surgery from prenatal/neonatal consultation through adolescence.
  • Opportunities with the pediatric surgery fellowship training program, multidisciplinary clinics for congenital diaphragmatic hernia, aerodigestive diseases, and nutrition/feeding/gastrostomy issues
  • Participate in a robust patient safety and quality improvement program.
  • Inpatient and outpatient surgery at Norton Childrens Hospital, outpatient surgery at Norton Childrens Medical Center and Norton Womens & Childrens Hospital
  • Opportunities for basic science and clinical research
  • Potential leadership of ACS programs within Norton Childrens Hospital

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Medical degree/diploma
  • Board certified/board eligible
  • Residency/fellowship certification
