American Welding & Gas, Inc. has an exciting new opportunity for an Automation Sales Support Engineer based in our Indianapolis, IN location.
The Automation Sales Support Engineer is responsible for assisting the sales team in identifying customer needs, developing automation solutions, and ensuring customer satisfaction. This role involves technical and administrative support, proposal development, and collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders to achieve sales targets and deliver high-quality automation solutions. Additionally, the Specialist will provide support during the installation phase and ongoing technical support to customers.

Following comprehensive training, the Automation Sales Support Engineer will undertake the following responsibilities:
- Sales Support:
- Aid the sales team in discerning customer requirements and formulating suitable automation solutions.
- Create and present technical presentations and demonstrations for customers.
- Provide pre-sales technical assistance and product education.
- Proposal Development:
- Craft and compile detailed proposals and quotations for automation solutions.
- Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to gather necessary information for proposals.
- Ensure proposals are accurate, competitive, and meet customer requirements.
- Customer Engagement:
- Maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers.
- Respond to customer inquiries and provide timely support.
- Schedule and coordinate customer visits, site assessments, and product demonstrations.
- Technical Support:
- Provide technical support to customers during the sales process and after implementation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve customer issues related to automation products and solutions.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to address complex technical challenges.
AWE Qualifications & Education Requirements:
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in a sales support or technical support role, preferably in the automation industry.
- Strong technical background with knowledge of automation products and solutions.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites as needed.
