Duties:
- Lead the execution, maintenance, and continual improvement of the QMS, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS9100, and FDA regulations.
- Drive quality initiatives through risk assessment, process controls, and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to mitigate quality issues and improve processes.
- Oversee and participate in audits by customers and regulatory agencies, ensuring that SMTC meets or exceeds compliance standards.
- Develop and refine the product assurance program, delineating control areas, personnel requirements, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address production issues, improve quality control, and implement corrective measures.
- Stay updated on industry developments, technical publications, and quality advancements to incorporate best practices into SMTC's processes.
- Manage supplier quality, including conducting audits, evaluating vendor quality standards, and addressing non-conformances.
- Work closely with suppliers and Purchasing to ensure that materials meet SMTC's quality standards and production needs.
- Establish and maintain a Supplier Quality Index, leveraging statistical methods to evaluate and retain high-quality vendors.
- Serve as a primary interface with customers on quality and technical matters, acting as a customer advocate and providing support during product conformance assessments.
- Engage with internal stakeholders and other management team members to align quality objectives with business strategies and market demands.
- Represent SMTC during customer and external audits, ensuring clear communication and a proactive approach to meeting client expectations.
- Promote the growth of Quality Engineering and Incoming Inspection staff through training, coaching, and career development initiatives.
- Lead management meetings to coordinate quality activities, establish goals, and implement organizational policies.
- Cultivate a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, aligned with SMTC's core values, and encourage proactive quality management practices.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop quality-related goals, policies, and operational procedures that support SMTC's long-term objectives.
- Prepare and manage the fiscal budget for the quality assurance program, ensuring effective resource allocation and cost management.
- Evaluate reports from the quality department and recommend adjustments to meet evolving business needs.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field (Master's preferred).
- Minimum of 5+ years in quality engineering or a quality management role within a manufacturing environment; experience in medical device, aerospace, or defense sectors is highly desirable.
- ASQ certification as a Quality Manager, Engineer, or Auditor is advantageous.
- Proven expertise with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS9100, FDA regulations, and relevant QMS standards.
- Strong leadership abilities, with proven experience managing teams and fostering professional development.
- Skilled in data analysis, Six Sigma methodologies, and risk assessment to drive quality improvements.
- Demonstrated experience building strong relationships with internal teams, customers, and suppliers, with a customer-oriented approach to quality decisions
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
- Regularly moves about production areas to monitor quality processes and inspect products.
- Frequently operates standard office and quality inspection equipment, including computers, measurement tools, and inspection devices.
- Occasionally positions self to reach items at various heights for inspection and auditing purposes.
- Effectively communicates with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to exchange accurate information on quality standards and requirements.
- Occasionally transports items or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds for inspection and quality assessment.
