The Plant Manager will drive a performance-based culture, with specific focus on yield, uptime, throughput, employee development, and safety training, while building a team of engaged employees. Directs and coordinates activities of planning and receiving personnel, support personnel, as well as all production departments in processing materials within Sonaca North America.The Plant Manager participates in the development of long-range goals, strategies and objectives and develops initiatives at the plant level. Performs the duties personally and through subordinate managers and supervisors. The Plant Manager supports Sonaca North America’s Quality Policy, Mission Statement and other company policies and procedures by supporting our commitment to total customer satisfaction, quality products and services, lean processes, continuous improvement, on-time delivery, safety, teaming, individual accountability, and respect for all people.ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop and execute annual and long-term goals, strategies and objectives at the site level to fulfill the growth and financial return objectives of the company.Support the development of existing and new business through the preparation of cost control reports, cost estimates, manpower, and facilities requirement forecastsActively pursue new business opportunities with new and existing customersProvide direction in the formulation, development and implementation of company quality, production, administrative and safety policies and procedures.Ensure all established costs, quality, and delivery commitments are met. Develop plans, programs and culture to ensure site compliance with company, State and Federal regulatory guidelines and statutes related to the production of the company’s product and services.Create and develop positive relationships with counterparts, customer representatives, supplier representatives, employees, leaders in the community and others. Serve as a company representative to the community, its customers, its employees and to government agencies.Continuously focus on engaging the workforce, develop development plans, promote positive employee relations, ensure fair problem-solving processes and support performance management systems.Coach, guide and direct the activities of work units within the facility. Reviews staffing levels and makes adjustments based on changing needs of the business to ensure on-time-delivery to customers. Periodically assesses organizational structure and reporting lines and adjusts as necessitated by business needs and economy-influenced fluctuations in employment.Coordinate activities with all functions of the organization and suppliers to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment. Work directly with program managers to ensure that schedules are appropriate to requirements on timing and budget.Champion use of Six Sigma/Lean tools in driving plant improvement to develop and implement strategic initiatives relative to inventory, capacity utilization, and growth opportunitiesEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCESBachelor degree with five to seven years of experience with successful and progressive operations; Seven to ten years of manufacturing leadership experience. Minimum of 10 years’ progressive operations leadership experience in complex manufacturing is required. Experience in aerospace manufacturing is highly preferred.Must have strong knowledge of high mix / low volume production techniques. Aerospace systems and related component knowledge is required.Demonstrated success in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement and successfully implemented improvements resulting in increased efficiency, effectiveness, and quality. Proven ability to look at manufacturing processes and identify savings that will generate results.Demonstrable leadership background with focus on participative and team-oriented culture but can act decisive when required and hands off when not.Track record of maintaining strong customer satisfaction from an operations perspective required, as evidenced by strong performance in the areas of quality and on-time delivery of product.Experience and success in nurturing, growing, and strengthening customer and supplier relationships based on strategic management, a bias for action and a track record of results is required.Proven experience building dynamic and high performing teams with the ability to motivate and inspire others is required.Must carry a genuine passion for the business, capable of leading a tight knit and engaged team.
