The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Vice President - Finance & Accounting leads the organization’s teams in Accounting & Financial Reporting, Financial Planning & Analysis, Treasury, Accounting Services, and Procurement. This role ensures effective systems, procedures, and internal controls are in place to guarantee accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. Additionally, the position safeguards WWP assets and ensures the effective allocation of organizational resources. The Vice President – Finance & Accounting supports the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) as a strategic partner on the executive team and assists with the development and execution of the organization’s strategic plan and annual budget. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Support the CFO and executive leadership on enterprise-wide strategic initiatives and resource allocation. Oversee accounting, treasury, payroll, employee expenses, accounts payable, and procurement functions. Direct all budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting activities. Provide executive leadership with clear, accurate and timely financial results, forecasts, and metrics, including supporting analysis and insights. Ensure accurate and compliant annual reporting of consolidated GAAP financial statements and IRS Form 990s. Maintain effective internal controls and safeguards for donation revenue, in-kind contributions, cash expenditures, and protection of financial assets. Ensure all liabilities, commitments, and contingencies are identified and accounted for in accordance with GAAP. Support the CFO in engaging the Board of Directors’ Audit & Risk Oversight Committee and Investment & Finance Committee in fulfilling their respective charters. Recruit and develop a high performing financial operations team. Drive continuous improvements in business processes, efficiencies, and cost control. Manage all activities with WWP’s external audit and tax professionals. Other related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES Strong technical skills in accounting, financial planning and analysis, and asset management. Highly effective written and verbal communications skills. Strong relationship management skills, with the ability to adapt communication style to different individuals. Proven experience in leading, managing, and influencing effectively. Demonstrated ability to motivate, coach, and educate teammates while fostering a strong team mentality. Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and direct multiple projects and activities with varied deadlines. Effective in advancing strategic agendas. Demonstrated sound judgment and strategic thinking. Ability to analyze complex information and offer creative, practical, and high-impact solutions. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines. Detail oriented with strong follow-through. Proactive problem solver. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. High energy level. Self-starter. Demonstrated initiative. Ten years of leadership or staff management experience. Preferences Five years of non-profit experience. EDUCATION Requirements Bachelor’s degree. Preferences Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSURE Requirements Valid state-issued driver’s license. Preferences Certified Public Accountant (CPA). WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS General office environment; temperature controlled.
