Position Title: Shipping & Receiving Specialist
Location: St. Charles, MO
Position Summary:
The Shipping & Receiving Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely handling of incoming and outgoing shipments. This role ensures that products are received, inspected, stored, and shipped according to company standards and procedures. The specialist will also maintain inventory accuracy and support overall warehouse operations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform basic inspection and verification of product received, which involves matching the item number and quantity to packing slip and purchase order as well as potentially including any required product certifications.
- Execute receipt in company ERP (Enterprise Resource System), print, and apply part labels.
- Provide completed receiving paperwork to the accounting department.
- Move and store products within the facility, using carts, pallet jacks, forklifts and trucks.
- Store, organize, and maintain raw material on designated racks and shelves.
- Contact suppliers for quotes and arrange shipments in and out of the facility.
- Package and label items being shipped to ensure product is delivered on time and without damage.
- Using UPS and FedEx systems, create shipping documents to ensure proper traceability and delivery of items.
- Create Bills of Lading for freight shipments.
- Comply with all company procedures pertaining to receiving, shipping, material handling and safety requirements.
- Assist with conducting inventory cycle counts.
- Must account for timely loading and unloading of trailers and LTL Freight upon arrival and for departure.
- Organize and maintain clean shipping desk, dock, and storage areas including trailers, racks and outside areas used for storage.
- On occasion, assist with local pick-ups and deliveries.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Required Skills:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At a minimum 1-year Forklift experience.
- At a minimum 1- year of Shipping and Receiving experience.
- At a Minimum 1-year Material Handling experience.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly Motivated and Strong work ethic.
- Basic computer data entry skills.
- Ability to become proficient with warehouse management systems and shipping software.
- Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in inventory handling.
- Ability to work with a variety of internal/external customers and maintain a high level of service.
Preferred Skills
- Technical College Certification in Logistics or related field.
- Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains.
- Class E Driver's License.
Physical Requirements:
- Physically able to stand up to 8+ hours per day.
- Must have the ability to hear and respond to auditory signals, distinguish tones and pitches in equipment, and use hearing protection during specific tasks.
- Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, climb, balance, and reach overhead.
- Ability to work in various environments and weather conditions.
- Required use of fingers and hands to operate a computer.
- Vision abilities required by this job include close and/or color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
