Position Summary: The Buyer/Planner will manage day to day supply chain initiatives and provide sourcing support for multiple commodities in accordance with the strategic business requirements set forth by the Operations department. The Buyer will be responsible for all tactical aspects of supply chain including day to day ordering of materials, management of MRP planning parameters, communication, and issue resolution with suppliers, improving supplier performance, and management of inventory investment and turnover. The right candidate will understand and help align sourcing strategies with business goals and metrics and be able to communicate with internal stakeholders. Must have attention to detail and excel at managing multiple projects and priorities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Complete the required daily routine of MRP actions and associated analysis, problem solving, and reporting to maintain timely flow of purchased material and communication regarding delivery dates. * Maintain accurate system data for all purchase and planning parameters including lead-times, price, lot sizes, minimums, and multiples. * Actively seek alternate sources or substitutions to proactively solve material availability issues while seeking to optimize lead-time, price, and inventory investment. * Negotiate pricing and commercial terms with suppliers to drive a favorable total cost solution. * Proactively manage suppliers and shipments to optimize freight consolidation program. * Analyze slow moving inventory to access root cause, identify rework/substitution opportunities, identify solutions, and most cost-effective actions for disposition. * Provide Phase In/Phase Out planning for new product introductions with regard to demand planning, material planning, inventory ramp-up (or ramp-down) for optimal consumption of working capital investment. * Conduct commodity and supplier analysis to recognize and implement potential opportunities, gaps and risk analysis, and areas for efficiency gains. * Manage pre-production buying tasks through MRP to ensure successful product launch. * Support strategic sourcing and continuous improvement initiatives and establish material productivity strategies. * Develop relationship with suppliers as the point of contact for all external and internal issues. * Support compliance programs and requirements including but not limited to supplier TPG, country of origin, HTS, REACH, RoHS, Prop 65. * Work cross functionally with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Receiving, Finance, Sales and Customer Service to share information on current business issues and meet company demands. * Other duties as assigned by management.
