Mission of the Role
The mission of this role is to drive Hartfiel sales associated with automated equipment and machine control. Acting as a specialist in motion control, this role would focus on complete or partial machine controls and be responsible for sales, program management, and implementation of automated controls systems.
Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree from a technical field of study preferred (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Computer Engineering). Required is a thorough understanding of industrial controls systems including servo motors, induction motors, servo drives, motion controllers, PLCs and HMIs. In addition, knowledge of industrial communication protocols is needed, such as Ethernet I/P, CanOpen, Devicenet, Ethercat, etc. Experience with ladder logic, structured text, and other standard programming languages is preferred. Strong time management and experience in high value technical sales is also strongly preferred.
Key System Sales Engineer Accountabilities
• Lead sales efforts in the field of electrical controls. Identifying large potential customers and drive effort to gain access into these accounts. This includes monitoring and maintaining current funnel opportunities.
• Responsible for developing and presenting customer specific demos and presentations.
• Works with customers and outside sales engineers to specify complete control systems. This includes selecting controls package (industrial PC, PLC, Motion Control, HMI), motor sizing and selection, drives sizing and selection, I/O system creation and specification, and selecting and specifying mechanical components (actuators, gearboxes, etc.).
• Work with sales teams to present quotes to meet customer specifications
• Manages development projects for large opportunities. This includes developing SOW (Scope of Work) documentation, constructing quotes, negotiating details and project schedules, and providing communication with management, internal colleagues and key vendors on the project schedules. Larger projects require prioritization, communication with the customer on required information and project status, and the ability to leverage vendor or other external resources when necessary.
• Throughout installation of equipment, this role will support the Sales Engineering team by managing customer expectations.
• Ability to attend in-depth (up to 1 week per month) training at vendor facilities.
• Potential travel up to 50%
• Other miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Follows all quality processes and procedures as established by Hartfiel Automation.
• Operates within the intended framework of Hartfiel Automation's mission, values, and vision statements.
