Cloud Network Engineer (3933)

SMX is seeking creative technical problem solvers who can design and develop solutions with our clients. We are looking for a Cloud Network Engineer who has hands-on experience with using AWS technologies to implement and support client needs to ensure necessary Zero Trust architecture, standards and best practices. This person will be closely collaborating with cloud architects and other security system SMEs and engineers to produce creative solutions that ensure cloud orchestration and automation capability is operating based requirements. This is a remote position that supports a team located in Washington, D.C. Must be willing to work EST time zone hours, but maybe required to work off-hours based on client needs.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:• Designing, planning and implementing client-specific cloud solutions• Applying strong IP network knowledge as a cloud engineer• Ensuring the cloud network is responsive to user demands and meets Zero Trust Network Architecture• Scaling cloud services to serve growing businesses• Designing, building, and maintaining the network infrastructure of a cloud-based system• Working closely with IT teams to ensure that cloud resources are provisioned, managed, and maintained in an efficient and secure manner• Taking responsibility for the design/architecture, definition and enforcement of standards; security, sustainability, and deployment, and operations of its current and future networks.Required Skills:• Dedication to innovative, sophisticated designs and collaborative problem-solving • Demonstrated engineering experience in designing and implementing efficient, secure, scalable, repeatable, and best practice solutions• Demonstrated ownership of timely incident identification, resolution and ticket updates• Strong collaboration and communication skills• Experience in both AWS and Azure as well as traditional IT hardware/virtualization. • IP network proficiency with subnetting, CIDR notation, static routing, dynamic routing (RIP, BGP, OSPF), firewalls, WAF, proxy, DMZ architecture, • Working knowledge of protocols at various layers of OSI networking model (i.e. HTTP/S, FTP/S, SSH, DNS, SMTP, STARTTLS, DNSSEC…) • Working knowledge of certificates and fundamentals of PKI• Server administration experience – Linux or WindowsDesired Skills:• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering or related area. • 5-10 years of IT 3+ years of experience with AWS • 3+ years of experience with Azure• AWS SA-Associate or Ops Associate Certification or Azure Networks Certificate a plus• IPv6 Knowledge is a plus• AWS or Azure use with and certifications in Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Brocade and other network vendors is a plus• CompTIA Network+ or Security+ Certification is a plusApplication deadline 11-29-2024#LI-RemoteThe SMX salary determination process takes into account a number of factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories, relevant prior work experience, specific skills, education and certifications.
