Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Air Freight Forwarder Manager to lead and manage both air and ground operations, including brokering ground shipments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the coordination and execution of domestic air freight shipments, brokering ground transportation, and overseeing day-to-day operational activities to ensure seamless service for our clients. This role requires someone with Domestic Air Freight Forwarder industry expertise, with a skill set for developing strategic partnerships with ground and air carriers as well as cartage companies.
Job Requirements:
Air Freight Routing and Operations:
Proven experience managing end-to-end air freight operations, including planning, coordinating, and routing domestic and international shipments.
Strong knowledge of airline schedules, cargo capacities, and airline partnerships, ensuring timely and cost-efficient deliveries.
Familiarity with TSA regulations, IATA guidelines, and indirect air carrier (IAC) requirements to ensure compliance.
Experience optimizing routing solutions to meet next-day, second-day, and expedited delivery timelines.
Ability to manage multiple air freight shipments simultaneously while proactively addressing operational challenges and delays.
Quoting and Rate Management:
Expertise in preparing competitive air freight quotes for domestic air and expedited ground shipments, balancing service levels, transit times, and costs.
In-depth knowledge of on line platforms, 7L, airline tariffs, fuel surcharges, dimensional weight calculations, and volume-based discounts.
Experience working with freight management software (e.g. WorldTrack, Turvo, to generate accurate, fast quotes and shipment orders.
Ability to leverage carrier relationships, airline spot quotes, local pu&d cartage rates to secure favorable cost, ensuring competitive profitability and competitiveness.
Strong understanding of the airline networks, aircraft, airport capacity, past knowledge recall to provide rate forecasts and strategic pricing solutions.
Ground Brokerage & Freight Solutions:
Broker and manage ground transportation services for sprinter vans, straight truck and 53 trailers loads.
Optimize shipping routes and solutions based on cost, time, and availability.
Strong understanding and use of load boards for acquiring land costs from DAT, Sylectus, pricing platforms
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead and mentor a team of freight coordinators and operations staff.
Provide training and ensure adherence to industry regulations and best practices.
Collaborate with the sales team to address operational challenges and improve service delivery.
Compliance & Documentation:
Ensure compliance with TSA, DOT, and other regulatory requirements.
Oversee accurate documentation for all air and ground shipments, including bills of lading, airway bills, and customs paperwork.
Address and resolve operational or documentation issues in a timely manner.
Customer Service & Problem Resolution:
Serve as the primary point of contact for escalations and problem resolution for air and ground freight services.
Maintain and build strong relationships with customers, providing customized solutions to meet their logistics needs.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in freight forwarding, with expertise in both air and ground logistics.
Strong background in brokering ground transportation and negotiating carrier contracts.
Knowledge:
Familiarity with domestic air and ground freight operations, including TSA, DOT, and IAC regulations.
Experience booking shipments on load board software platforms
Experience in working with transportation TMS, i.e. WorldTrack, DAT, Sylectus, Parade, Turvo or similar
