What you’ll be doing...
This opportunity is for Military personnel who are current participants of the Department of Defense Skillbridge Program or are participants of the Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program Cohort 1-2025
Design, develop, and test wireless sales and ordering systems used by Verizon's internal & external customers. The individual will be part of a team of developers who will use the latest development and security standards to provide robust and scalable solutions to business requirements.
You can establish relationships and work with peers at all levels independently. You can articulate the problem statement, and openly bring up challenges, negotiate, influence, and drive solutions. You’ll leverage industry trends to drive innovation and solution excellence across various functional domains within Verizon Global Services.
In this role you will be responsible for:
Developing and testing custom software systems supporting sales and ordering of wireless products
Assisting in the design of software systems
Analyzing customer requirements and developing concepts for new applications
Coordinate with project management and other engineering and application development teams to determine overall system solutions
Applying object-oriented techniques and Agile methodologies
Authoring technical documentation as needed
Support QA team in developing test plans
You’ll need to have:
Must be a current participant of the Department of Defense Skillbridge Program or of the Hiring our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program.
Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
Four or more years of relevant work experience
Software development experience as a full stack developer in a LINUX/Unix environment using Java, J2EE, jQuery, HTML, CSS, Javascript, React/Angular, RDBMS, Oracle
Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation as a condition of employment.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant engineering field or four or more years of work experience.
Understanding of networking technology for telecommunications and data communications.
Understanding of multi-threaded software development.
Knowledge of information security.
Outstanding communication and analytical skills.
Usage of source version control products such as Git.
Usage of Visualization tools such as ELK, Grafana
Knowledge of AI/ML, Generative AI

Where you’ll be working
In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
