Structural Heart Advanced Practitioner Needed in Boston

The Structural Heart Disease Program at Tufts Medical Center treats patients with a wide range of structural and valvular conditions with minimally invasive, transcatheter based therapies including, but not limited to, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion, PFO/ASD closure, and MitraClip.
The Structural Heart Disease Program provides outpatient and inpatient services and includes the evaluation process that leads up to the therapeutic procedure as well as acute care services that may be needed before or after the intervention and outpatient follow up. This program is a multidisciplinary initiative comprised of interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, general/imaging cardiologists and multiple advance practice providers.
About the Position:
The Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) is an integral part of the Structural Heart Team and will be responsible for providing care for inpatients and outpatients who are being evaluated for or recovering from structural heart procedures. The APP will join an existing team of NPs in jointly providing both inpatient and outpatient care of structural heart patients.
This is a unique opportunity for an APP who wants to provide care in a dynamic and fast growing field as a member of a multidisciplinary team that includes Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, nurses, administrators, and physicians in training.
Responsibilities
- Inpatient: The APPs are responsible for the management of structural heart patients on the cardiology service from admission through discharge, practicing under a collaborative model with the General Cardiologist on service and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure consistent, high quality patient care.
- Outpatient: The APPs participate in outpatient Structural clinics to assist with outpatient consultation, workup and follow up in collaboration with the attending physician and other members of the multidisciplinary team
- Specific duties include: comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and treatment for medical conditions common to adult cardiology care; prescribing diagnostic testing and therapeutic interventions; supervising protocols and ensuring compliance with hospital standards surrounding delivery of care; development, evaluation and modification of treatment plans as patient condition warrants; participation in clinical trials of novel devices in structural heart disease
Requirements:
- Master's degree required
- Current MA Registered Nurse license required (does not apply to PA candidates)
- BLS/ required
- 2-3 years Advanced Practice Provider and/or cardiology experience preferred
- Current Massachusetts NP licensure or PA licensure
- Ability to work collaboratively with nurses, physicians and administrative colleagues.
- Excellent communication skills
