Your Role at Cabot

The Global Internal Controls Manager is a key member of the Corporate Controller's Group serving as the primary leader for all of Cabot's internal control matters, with responsibility for establishing and monitoring the company's global internal control environment in support of the accuracy of Cabot's financial statements. This highly visible role works closely with key global and regional functional teams including accounting, finance, human resources, digital, tax, treasury and the businesses to ensure that Cabot's global internal controls framework is well understood and executed effectively. In addition, this role is also responsible for a number of key external reporting activities, which includes assisting in the process of consolidating Cabot's accounting records, calculating earnings and preparing internal and external communications of results.

This is a hybrid role based at Cabot's Corporate Headquarters in Boston, MA. The hybrid role requires the Global Controls Manager to work physically in the Boston office 3 days a week generally Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and has the option to work remotely the remaining 2 days.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Leads and directs global internal control activities, working with senior management, functions and regions to ensure compliance with requirements of the Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX). Manage the content and distribution of the Company's global internal control framework. Provide global internal control related training and support as required.
  • Interface with regional internal control managers to address questions, jointly identify ongoing efficiency opportunities, and evaluate remediation of deficiencies.
  • Leads the planning and execution of new control processes or control remediation plans that have a global impact. Provides guidance and support to the regional internal controls managers over the development and execution of control deficiency remediation plans at the regional level.
  • Primary internal controls liaison during the implementation phase of new software systems, processes, or organizational structures to ensure that impacts to internal controls are properly considered throughout the implementation and when the tool, process or structure is implemented. Ensure that the Company's internal controls framework is updated accordingly.
  • Primary liaison with the Company's internal and external auditors as it relates to internal control matters.
  • Manages the quarterly controls deficiency log, which includes evaluating new and open deficiencies, assessing the proper deficiency classification, and interfacing with external auditors to review management's evaluations and conclusions.
  • Supports the functions operating in the Boston Office to ensure that control owners understand their roles in complying with the global control framework.
  • Remains current on regulatory changes and internal controls best practices to enhance the Company's processes
  • Assists with the planning, preparation and issuance of quarterly and annual reports (10-Q, 10-K, Annual Report, etc.) to be filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), ensuring compliance with SEC reporting requirements and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Supports the external audit of the Company's financial statements on a quarterly and annual basis.
  • Participates in ad hoc projects as necessary, including internal control related assignments, review of materials for external meetings or supplemental financial filings, other special projects, etc.


What You Will Bring to Cabot

  • 5+ years prior experience (i.e. US GAAP, SEC reporting, and Sarbanes-Oxley internal control requirements, etc)
  • Experience in a combination of public accounting and public company environment is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field, required.
  • Career-minded CPA or CPA in progress, preferred.
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment, control analysis, audit procedures, and auditing standards
  • Experience with manufacturing or similar industry required.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, independently and with colleagues around the world, respecting diversity and cultural differences.
  • Ability to balance the need for compliance and risk mitigation with business practicality and efficiency in mind.
  • Extremely strong written / oral communication skills.
  • Adept PC skills. Proficient in PC based software applications, especially Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and workpaper documentation skills.
  • Capacity to perform detailed analysis while understanding the big picture implications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, required.
  • Possesses potential for future advancement within the Company with strong desire to continuously learn, develop, and drive for performance improvement.
